10,000 Days

Aenima>undertow like Metallica ride the lightning>kill em all. Both albums are good but there follow ups seem much more polished and creative.

I would say so, but they're also far far more, they have very cool and long songs, and they're more laid back, the influence is definitely there though.

They sound pretty treat . . . like a good progressive rock band, then? You guys dig Mars Volta?

I thought you said you didn't really get into Lateralus . . . .

I'm hoping that you came around, though . . . for TOOL fans, this album will not disappoint . . .

I didnt get into Laterauls, but what does that have to do with my other post?

Edit: I wasnt counting opiate as there first album because undertow was there first big one.

I just picked this up the other day too. Much, MUCH better than Lataralus. That album really disapointed me, and I think I only listened to it all the way through like, 4 times. Jambi is a great, great song. The rest of the album is good too. I also re-bought AEnima, because my old copies case was so messed up. I still think Undertow is their best album though, followed by this, then probably AEnima, then Opiate...then APC's stuff...then Lataralus :o

For me...

1.Lateralus
2.Aenima
3.Salival / 10,000 Days
4.Opiate
5.Undertow

I dont count Salival, seeing as there was only what? 2 new songs on it? Although Maynard's Dick is hillarious :o

So far, the album is doing good things for me, and here is some advice to the people who haven't got it yet but are planning to:

Save it.

What I do with Tool albums, is save them, dont stick them on if you know your not going to be listening and concentrating on the whole thing, because this isn't 'tap your foot' music, and never will be. Any hardcore Tool fan knows that if the band had complete control over every facet of the recording and mixing process, then their albums probaly wouldn't have track listings. I'm being serious, each Tool album, most notably Lateralus, and this new record, should only be listened to as a whole sound, one single package, and not seperate songs, skipping tracks etc. In this respect, I feel it works the same way as 'Dark Side of the Moon', a CD which I feel should only ever be listened as a whole. So, dont rush into listening to this album if your just planning to listen to a track or two, since the littel you sample in these instances is likely to baffle you and put you off listening to the whole CD afterwards.

Haven't been able to really listen to the album yet, but the packaging and art is worth purchasing it alone.

fantastic album though Aenima makes you feel like your money bought some weighted songs. can't really explain it but that's my above all feeling.

10 000 days is just a great album. i fell in love with it more than any of the other albums because it wakes me up, and puts me to sleep all at the same time <3

I just read through this entire Thread while I'm listening to 10,000 days. Slipknot, you are the man, man. Same goes for Jag, Wilh, and some others. Music 'oldies' that actually know what the hell is going on. Audioslave does indeed suck. PJ was only good the first 3 albums, I haven't picked up the latest, prolly won't. 10,000 days does have alot of filler, but it only hypes up the lyrics even more. Rosetta Stoned so far I like the most, Wings pt.1. Very mixed feelings about the album as a whole, but I like it alot. And the album art is just kick ass. And yes, ass doesn't get blurped out. No need for @$$ or fuacking, rowked. Sorry, just somethings get on my nerves are re-reading it..... over........ and .....over .......and .... over... and ... over.... just Jesus H. Christ.

I don't like tool, I like Lusk and Feersum Enjin..........related to tool though.

I have always said that the best thing about tool is that they make the Paul D'amour solo projects sound so much better in comparison

What can I say about 10,000 Days, really? It sounds exactly and precisely like a Tool album. They might as well have not have released it at all, because anyone who’s ever heard Tool could simply imagine what a new Tool album would sound like, and this is exactly what they’d imagine. We’ve got Maynard’s trademarked wacky frontloaded cadence that makes him sound like he’s gasping out words between pauses in getting beaten up (vi oomph cari oomph ous oomph ly oomph I…). Only in “The Pot” does he break out of his well-trod habits and surprise/embarrass us with some little-brotherly falsetto mewling. We’ve got Danny Carey’s (or is it Dana Carvey? I always mix those two up. Both are drummers, you know) inscrutable poly-molly-wooly-rhythms and tiresome bass drum wank-rolls that sound like a finger stuck in a fan (but, somehow, it’s music!). As always, the affair is shabbily held together by the guitar work of Adam Jones, which manages to touch all the extremes of mediocrity, from the chilling abyss of conspicuous sub-mediocrity (the spit-soaked Frampton-Comes-Alive solo on “Jambi”) to the thrilling stratosphere of… defensibility. Yes, that’s about the best that could be said of him: someone somewhere might have some kind of argument in his favor. Lord knows it isn’t me. His ass is frequently saved by the workmanlike bass twiddling of What’s-His-Face, who charitably wrests the lead from Jones when the going gets too tough.

so, there, even though he gets referred to as "what's-his-face" I guess someone out there agrees with me.

You know, if you don't like a band... DON'T POST IN A THREAD ABOUT THEM. Have a little respect for those who DO like them.

OH FOR GOD'S SAKE!

you tool fans are so ****ing humorless! I have tool albums and I listen to them, and I don't hate them, but the lot of you are like freaking smallville fans ...jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez.
just because I don't think the sun sets and rises behind maynard's ass doesn't mean I can't post in a thread about an artist.
I missed the part where the title thread read "10,000 days Love it or leave it"
perhaps many of you know the sheer glass-like fragile stance of your idols and therefore don't like to see stones thrown at them.
but for ****'s sake man, chill out.
I missed the part where the poster above me respectfully disagreed with the review (which showed more than a passing knowledge of music) and merely wrote it off as "crap" and I'm supossed to show "respect" for them?

 infinity + 1

I'm not a Tool fan per se. The only Tool album I have is 10,000 Days. I just don't like people coming into threads made for a band and saying things like "Maybe its because ______________ is crap"

I hate Green Day with a passion. Will I go into a thread for them just to say "Green Day has all the talent of a ******ed monkey, and throw double the feces." No, even if that is my opinion of them, I have enough respect for the people that do like them, that I keep that to myself.

I'm not going to get into the whole Audioslave thing again, but I wanted to mention that the new Pear Jam is a solid fuackin, fuackin, fuackin, fuackin :D album . . . it's self-titled, and rightfully so . . . Revolver gave it a 4-star review, and as far as I'm concerned, this is their true follow-up to Vitalogy

Chili Peppers is pretty stellar from what I've listened to so far as well
