10 Reasons Why You Should Eat Less Meat:

I'm currently finishing up a meat lovers thin crust pizza from pizza hut. I think it's good to go every once in a while with little to no meat at all in your diet, but my energy level drops too much if I go too long without any kind of meat product. I can stuff myself to the max with a salad but over an hour later I'm already hungry again.

We were made to eat meat and vegetables THE END.

I'd devour that clown's esophagus in a heartbeat.

1. Water needed to produce a pound of meat: 441 gallons

2. Amount of U.S. grain fed to farm animals: 70%

3. Of all water used for all purposes in the United States, 60% goes to livestock production.

4. The great Ogallala aquifer, a resource that took a half million years to accumulate, will be depleted in less than 40 years.[2]

5. Pass up one hamburger, and you’ll save as much water as you save by taking 40 showers with a low-flow nozzle.

6. It is estimated that for each hamburger made from rainforest beef, members of life forms from approximately 20 to 30 different plant species, 100 different insect species, and dozens of bird, mammals, and reptile species are destroyed

7. A groundbreaking 2006 United Nations report found that raising animals for food generates more greenhouse gases than all the cars and trucks in the world combined

8. According to the EPA, over 200 manure discharges and spills from U.S. animal farms between 1990 and 1997 have killed more than a billion fish.[2] Animal feedlots can contaminate nearby well water with high levels of nitrates, which have been linked to miscarriages in humans as well as “blue baby” syndrome in infants. Manure lagoons and spray fields from animal agriculture also pollute the air by emitting ammonia, methane, and hydrogen sulfide.

9. Vegetarian diets help lower blood cholesterol levels; lower blood pressure; and lower rates of hypertension, type 2 diabetes, and prostate and colon cancer.

10. The Adventist Health Study found that non-vegetarians had a 54% increased risk for prostate cancer and an 88% increased risk for colorectal cancer, even after controlling for age, sex, and smoking.[1] Numerous studies show much lower cancer rates in countries which have largely plant-based diets.

I could go for a butter-burger from Culver's now.

Behold the Carnivorgasm

A sirloin patty, a turkey patty, pulled barbecued chicken, bacon, sliced ham, turkey, cheddar cheese and whiskey pimento cheese, all covered in vortex barbecue sauce and crammed between two buns. (No lettuce, tomato or onion -- just meat!)

I will never understand the logic of a sandwich that won't fit in my mouth.

I agree. A burger that big needs to have its ingredients taken out individually to be eaten, at which point it ceases to be a sandwich.

I had a Baconator burger from Wendy's for supper! It was delicious.

By posting picturs of meat filled foods, and videos of cannibalistic Ronald McDonald, are we in fact, trolling?

Wait. Does Fish make me a horrible person?

Because I just fried myself up some nice beer-batter filets. Mmmmm.

I eat more chicken and fish than meat but tonight I'm making carne asada tacos. :word:

I'm sorry but I'll have to disagree with that statement that everything causes cancer. That's just foolish to believe.

It's pretty much true. Cancer is becoming almost an inevitability of living in an industrialized civilization. The longer you live, the more likely you will develop a form of cancer, regardless of the precautions you take.

I find it extremely bizarre how so many people are so antagonistic towards vegetarians and even the very idea of vegetarianism.

I watched one of those anti-meat peta videos once...then I went to Burger King.

If meat wasn't so damn good I'd eat only vegetables instead. So in actuality, it's the vegetables' faults for tasting so bad.

When a society places such a huge importance on making meat the staple of a meal, it's hard not to eat a lot of meat. Living in a couple of countries where meat was just an ingredient for a dish versus being the centerpiece, it was very easy to imagine eating very little meat... if any at all.

What the hell is this? :funny:

I have never had a "rainforest beef" hamburger in my life. I didn't know cows could live in treetops.
