AFI presented a list on T.V. last night and to be quite honest I disagree with the majority of the films on that list. It basically led me to wonder how they define "inspirational". So, folks, which movies inspire you?

Almost Famous inspires me more than any other movie. As someone who wishes they could've grown up during that generation and someone who dremas endlessly of hangign out with his favorite band, it's a really great film that shows how your wildest dreams can come true, even if William Miller, the main writer, didn't necessarily have that dream initially. Plus, since it was based on a true story, it makes it all the more inspiring. It's become my favorite movie.

Yeah, Almost Famous is really ****ing awesome.
Big FIsh inspired me because it made me realize that, like, the amount of lives you touch in your lifetime is so huge, so vast, so incomprehensible....
I mean, it made me want to be a better person. :o

Where in the Hell was Lord of the Rings?

Yeah, it is. I consider it to be so underrated. I think it's Crowe's best work to date, though, and I hate to admit it, I have yet to see Say Anything. But still, Almost Famous is my favorite movie.

Also, I know it's an obvious choice, but I also have to go with The Shawshank Redemption. It's just so powerful.

What was numero uno?

It's A Wonderful Life, which definitely gets a spot in my list.
Can't fight that one.
But i still wanna know why LOTR wasn't on the list

a wonderful life has got to be the most overrated film I've ever seen in my life.

I have to agree. Sure it is a holiday staple and it's a good film but it gets too much attention.

I'm glad to see some of my personal picks made the list such as Braveheart, Saving Private Ryan, Forest Gump and of course both Shawshank Redemption and Rudy.

Then you obviously have not seen very many movies in my life.

Shawshank.

Without question.

Just watching the "Making of" documentary feature in the 10-year anniversary special edition of the film shows that "inspiring" is the perfect way to describe the entire film in just a single word.
