exactly...

...kudos for that kid doing what needed to be done. it's clear that he has a good head on his shoulders. it's just common sense that if someone you care for is in danger that you should do whatever needs to be done in order to protect them, even if that means killing the attacker. luckily it seems like the kid had enough common sense to aim to kill instead of aiming to harm. if he had stabbed the guy in the arm or the leg, the guy could've easily slaughtered both of them.

I think he did the right thing. Violence isn't always the right answer but this was absolutely necessary .
