1980's Spider-man Movie Trailer

yeah, i noticed the 'Cannon films' logo flashing up at the start, I had a look at a Cannon films website once, and they had a Spider-man movie planned, it was round about the time they got the rights to Superman, hence why they are using the Superman music in the trailer.
edited for a mis-read, and...

it look like they have tried to re-do that footage of the live action SM landing on the letters that you used to get at the end of a 'Marvel Productions' cartoon in the 80s, but that one was better, Cannon made real cheap films, Barfly is very good though.

At one point Albert Pyun was going to direct Spider-Man. They were going to use the same sets built for Cyborg for Spider-man and a He-Man movie.

one of several aborted Spider-Man films from the past - thank God these were never made. Cannon owning SM from this period is what the big hold up was that kept James Cameron from making his Spidey movie - the one with Arnold as the Sand Man and Electro in a supporting role - that would have been a good one!

I read a terrible script in the mid-80's for a Spider-Man t.v. movie. It was a FLY knock off, with Parker turning into a "Spider Man" and he did not even show up until the last few pages.

i'd like to see cameron's spiderman :o
though arnie couldn't hold a candle to thomas hayden church as sandman

Hmm, the sweet, crappy movie that could have been. Who would Cannon have had play Peter Parker ? Michael Dudikoff ?

I just read the Cannon treatment (well the synopsis). Their idea wouldn't be too shabby. Especially since Spider-Man 2 basically uses every idea from their treatment, including a Doc Ock that was using a cyclotron to develop a new form of energy, having the experiment fail and alter him, and having him later reattempt the experiment at the peril of the city's safety. They also had a college aged Peter Parker and Doc Ock as a semi-mentor to him. More or less, it sounds like what Spider-Man 2 went on to become. I would have watched it as a child.

There's a thread on this in the Spidey World boards.

Yeah, the one that had Peter and Mary Jane having sex in the end
