200 Greatest Characters of All Time

Meh, if anything Wolverine doesn't deserve the #1 spot. Spidey or Batman are more well-suited for that position. And Doc Ock not even in the first 100?

The list is BS.

It may be that makeing deal with the devil thing that lost spider-man the top spot.:o

I agree with the List, although I would put superman ahead of Batman. Wolverine deserves the top spot, he's a samurai, soldier, immortal mutant, martial arts master, father figure, action hero, super hero, ladies man, and an X-man.

All that and he's still boring as hell.:o

Funny that...Stan Lee once said that if he had to get rid of all villains and keep one, it would be Doom...Doom has been the inspiration for so much over the years, plus I have the wizard where they did the top villains of all time and Doom was number 1....so all this is, is yet another opinion...wrong as it may be...no villain can top Doom...PERIOD

Stan Lee's a hack.

No I wont. I didn't cry when James Brown died, I wont shed a tear for Stan the Man.

If it's based on the iconic greatness of characters, that list is toilet paper with staples in it.

Whether we love these characters or not, it would be Superman, Batman, Spidey, Captain America... not in any particular order, mind you. But, characters that are instantly recognizable to anyone because they are far removed from just being 'comic book' characters.

My mom couldn't pick Wolverine out of a police lineup, but who doesn't know who Captain America or Superman are? Outside of North Korea...

Oh, and Kitty Pryde over The SPIRIT???

Yeah... I remember when every newspaper in America had weekly comic book inserts of the Kitty Pryde strip... those were the days.

Kitty Pryde influenced countless future comic creators like Frank Miller to get into the industry.

I know she's why I started drawing... :whatever:

Wolverine was appropriate for number 1. I might argue for Supes since he basically is the embidiement of what a superhero truly is.

However,

Spiderman? Nerd who got bit by a spider. Whoopdy Doo. "Oh Im a nerd. Oh its so hard being a nerd. Oh my uncle died bc I am lame. Oh MJ is out of my league. Oh its too dangerous to love her bc I'm spiderman. I'm gonna wisecrack constantly to cover my inferiority complex."

Batman? 50 years worth of crap written about a rich kid growing up with an over developed thirst for vengence. Yeah, almost believable tripe. One psychologically disturbed guy who in a matter of a decade or so learned every form of martial arts, reached a Richards level of technological advancement and mastered the art of being a detective. Yeah...in his comic there are 100 hours in a day since thats what it would take for him to accomplish all that as fast as he did and then embark of a superhero career.

Supes? Alien boyscout who was so powerful the writers themselves eventually realized it was stupid and powered him down.

Wolverine? Mutant who is over 130 yrs old. Samurai master. Trained in almost all martial arts, and has lived long enough for that to actually be feasable. Soldier who fought in multiple wars. Government "weapon" enhanced to be a complete killing machine. The constant struggle to contain the animal within. The honor code that binds him that he struggles to uphold. Walking the thin line between hero and killer. He made being a bad guy cool. People didn't want teh boyscout heroes anymore...they wanted the bad guy with metal blades in his hands. Taking up for the younger kids. The love story with Jean that goes all the way back to his first love that he accidently killed.

Yeah...hard to see who has the most interesting character there.

Yeah...hard to see who's most likely to get ridiculed here.

Who's #201?

:yay:

Ahh.....Well he did defeat Duckter(?) Doom...so that counts for something...

And that's what makes him populair?

No, the fact that he's a pig version of Spider-Man makes him popular. Never underestimate the power of kitsch.

Nothing more than a popularity poll at the moment ! A few years ago "Howard The Duck" and "Wolverine" could have changed places and most people would have agreed with the choices. Who decided these rankings and how ? is the question that I would like to ask.
