200 Greatest Characters of All Time

I don't even like Superman, but he should've been #1, just for his sheer influence on comics and pop culture. Superman gave birth to superhero comics. Wolverine's #1 because he lives in a "gray" world?? **** you, Wizard. They're just a bunch of Image fanboys anyway. :o

Wolverine? Mutant who is over 130 yrs old. Samurai master. Trained in almost all martial arts, and has lived long enough for that to actually be feasable. Soldier who fought in multiple wars. Government "weapon" enhanced to be a complete killing machine. The constant struggle to contain the animal within. The honor code that binds him that he struggles to uphold. Walking the thin line between hero and killer.

Wow, I should start calling him Mary Sueverine.

They should team him up with like, Drizzl Durden the Dark Elf of Darkness and late-90s rap rockers Limp Bizkit for a world-spanning adventure of **** that 11 year olds think is cool.

Walking the thin line between hero and killer. He made being a bad guy cool. People didn't want teh boyscout heroes anymore...they wanted the bad guy with metal blades in his hands. Taking up for the younger kids. The love story with Jean that goes all the way back to his first love that he accidently killed.
Meh, OVERRATED. Wolverine is lame because he's a hero whose supposed to have all these limitations, except he never displays any. He used to be a low level advanced healing mutant, who was essentially the runt in a group of Gods, vying for the attention of the greatest God of them all only to come up short to Mr. Boyscout himself. That character was interesting. However now he's just an overblown, overexposed, overly powerful character who can be anyone or anything he chooses. He has no real character because some writer just comes along and adds some new bullcrap origin story to his 130 years of development (if you even want to call it that).

Batman, Galactus, Silver Surfer, The Question (Vic Sage), The Spirit, Reed Richards, Colossus, Wally West and Lex Luthor (among others) have interested me way more than Wolverine. Batman is more complex, and his story is far more compelling, not to mention much less of a jumbled mess. Wolverine just isn't that complex, or rather he's too all over the place, written differently depending on the time of day. If he had an identifiable character I'd give him some sort of props, but he doesn't. Simply being a ton of awesome things crammed into a 5'8" bag doesn't make you cool...it makes you lame.

Without a doubt, Logan's biggest problem is his over exposure. He's a great character when used in moderation. But the way he's written now, he's barely a character at all. He's a trademark. Every now and then there's a good story where he's good in it. But Marvel's too interested in getting all the money out of him they can to let him flourish.

this is exactly what I have been trying to tell some of my friends, over the past couple years my opinion of wolverine has been going down and you just said it right there, he's hardly a character anymore.
