Completely agree with your assessment with Luck. I know that sometimes he can turn into a bit of a turnover machine, but I honestly think that has to do with how much he has to carry this team. I cannot wait until the organization puts a good team around Luck. But if they keep on my making stupid deals like the Trent Richardson one, that might take awhile.
I agree the Eagles will regress this season, but I also think they have the benefit of playing in a poor division. Just like my Colts really.
He most certainly carries the team sometimes. I realize he can turnover the ball quite a lot during the season, but that's primarily because he takes a lot of chances. I've noticed how he doesn't hesitate in the pocket and how tall he stands despite the pressure; that was something I saw in his rookie season and I just knew he would blossom even more.
In fact, I can recall a couple of times where he stood tall, delivered a good ball, but took a lick as a consequence. He's a tough QB.
I'm not sure if I remember your exact situation at the RB position last year, but it might have been a rash move in an attempt to make a steal. If he ended up being very successful in Indy, it would have reflected extremely well on Irsay. Basically, I can understand why they made a move for him.
That is true. For the most part however, I can see the Colts finishing at least 2nd in every division in the NFL. I can't say the same for Philly.
Does RG3 look physically right to you? Do you think that is still an issue? Same with the change in the offense again.
I can definitely see your overall point. Perhaps RG3 is in one of those situations where with one good win and start, he will be back on track. But from what I saw, he just didn't look to have it against the Texans. The Texans have a very good defense, but as you said, with your offensive weapons, Washington should have been able to muster 17 points.
So far, RG3 hasn't shown any lingering effects of recovering from his injury. It was quite evident he hadn't healed at this point last year, and even in the last couple of games before Shanahan sat him down. I'll have to see more of this offense to make a definitive analysis or comment on it yet; I'll get back to you on that around week 8.
I was listening to ESPN980 the other day and they were saying the same thing regarding RG3. The Skins ended last year on a 8 game losing streak, accompanied by the Shanahan drama that unfolded. I think it'll take at least one win before we start seeing that confidence he had back in 2012. Right now, the Skins have the longest active losing streak in the NFL (9 games).
I agree on Manuel. I don't know if he can be a true franchise QB, but he definitely looks solid. I really like what I heard about his leadership this past weekend.
And speaking of Teddy Bridgewater, do you think we will see him this season?
He's certainly not the bonafide QB that an organization would fall head over heels for from the start. He's the kind that can be groomed into something special though; you can just see it when he's out there. I'm sure he's even more motivated to prove people wrong after what happened last year.
I hope so. I honestly don't expect much from Cassel. Even despite the beating the Vikings put on the Rams last weekend, he threw only three passes longer than 10 yards (correct me if I'm wrong). I feel like they're just following through the formality of at least starting Cassel and seeing where he can take the team, as even Manziel didn't start over Hoyer in Cleveland and Jacksonville started Henne over Bortles.
There's usually a trend that comes with every draft class. We were blessed to see the likes of Luck, RG3, and Tannehill start in 2012. 2014's class is the kind that will carry their clipboards a few weeks, at least, before getting the starting nod.
