3 hour long Sony conference at GamesCon

Awesome just Awesome, I am very happy right now, sony did great!!!:D:up:

Sony is the worst with keeping secrets. LOL

Ugh, that translates to a mere £50 cut here I guess. £250 for a slim. Sucky.

Wow, even though I have an already built up PS3 library, I really almost wish I would have waited down. I love the last Slim models, and that's a fine deal. Was anything said about BC?

Nope, guess that's a not happenin'

It was a pretty good show, more came than I expect. I'm dissapointed with the UK slim price, as will my friends be. But hey, reduce it anymore over here and it'll cost less than a frickin' PSPGo...

Well the Slim has been confirmed as £249.99 in the UK

3.0 dated for September 1st

Other features of the new PS3 include:
PS3 system software update version 3.00
Concurrently with the release of new PS3, system software will be upgraded to version 3.00 on September 1, 2009. The update adds various user-friendly features such as the What’s New screen, where users can quickly browse the new items available in PlayStation Store as well as their recently played games directly on the XMB (XrossMediaBar), with short cuts to each piece of content.

PS3 will evolve continuously with the system software updates, further improving the operability and enhancing the user experience available through the network. PS3 owners will be able to enjoy new features by simply updating the PS3 system software to version 3.00 via the System Update function on the XMB*.

Bravia® Sync™ Feature
The new PS3 system is also equipped with the Bravia® Sync™ feature. By connecting the new PS3 system and a Bravia TV with the HDMI cable, users are able to directly operate the XMB on PS3 using the TV remote control. Other functions include System Standby that will automatically turn off the PS3 system when the Bravia TV is turned off.

Vertical Stand for new PS3 (CECH-2000)
By utilising the separately sold Vertical Stand, users will be able to set the new PS3 in vertical position, making it easier to place the PS3 system anywhere at home.

Removal of Install Other OS feature
The new PS3 system will focus on delivering games and other entertainment content, and users will not be able to install other Operating Systems to the new PS3 system.

Cool. Sony is really giving it the gusto.

I'm surprised they went with such a simple design.

Unless it has a secret hatch some where, I don't think you can swap the HDD anymore.

Ahh..you switched the pic Kal, that one is better, almost reminds me of the PS2 design with the embossed logo.

Well i think they wanted it to look more like a Blu Ray Player and i hope Sony starts Advertising the new Slim they need to Market perfectly in order to get their Sales up

Just read everything from a blog. I think if Sony's ever going to move tons of PS3's it's this year. PS3 slim for $300, lots of new exclusives, PSEye Eye Pet bundle, PSP-Go + tons of good PSP games announced, Home revamps, new firmware + PSN overhaul, mini games, ect. They really need to take advantage and grab consumers attentions since it seems like they're finally going all out.

As for the conference, sounded a bit dry, think everyone (including myself) expected a bit more than what was reasonable, but it wasn't bad. The price cut is awesome. I like the idea of the mini PSP games (if priced right). The free PSP GT should drive PSP-Go sales up a bit. I'm not into the design for the slim tho....it's not horrible, just kinda bland. Still tho, it's finally at a very nice price point, so no complaints.

Also sounds like they have more to talk about at the Tokyo Game show (next week isn't it?). The blog said something about them waiting until then to talk more about the motion controls.

Doh! I deleted it on accident when I was adding the other pic. Here it is.

It does look better when you get all the angles.

Well Sony picked the right part of the year September going into Christmas.

I'm wondering if all those old PS3's will get their own price cut.

The 80 gig will be cut to $299.99 and the 160gig will be $399.99 starting tomorrow.

TGS is a month off.

This is stupid. The UK has been completely screwed yet again. A PSP Go is only ****ing £25 less than a PS3 now.
