On the main page it´s stated that 300 will no longer be released on March and they´re looking for a new date. Call me crazy, but it sounds like a good thing to me. Sure, the delay could have technical motivations - post-production must be very complex on this - but also, the movie got glowing reviews from early test screenings, the studio may think they could have a bigger hit than they thought on their hands and want a better date - summer, maybe?

hmmm.... I guess... although I'd personally rather see it sooner than later.

It's not delayed right ? They're just looking for a different date. Summer of 2007 would IMO be wrong since it's just way too crowded for an R rated movie . Even with glowing reviews.

May has Spiderman 3 ( may 4th) Shrek 3 ( May 18th ) and POTC 3 ( May 25th).
June has Ocean's 13 ( 8th) , Fantastic Four sequel ( 15th) , Evan Almighty ( 22 of june) , Ratatouille and Die hard 4 ( 29th).
JUly has Transformers (4th) , HarryPotter (13th) , Simpsons (27th).
August has Bourne 3 (3rd) , Rush Hour 3 (10 th) .

Maybe they can squeeze in 300 in mid august. But i still feel their earlier release date of 13th of april was just fine.

IMO they should just go for an december '06 release date. Who knows , maybe they might even score a oscar nod or two.

Oh...no....

March is far enough away......please ....i hope they do not push it to summer or later...

It's not delayed, they're just looking for another date. It actually could be pushed forward.

Do you think the change in date has anything to do with the comments made at the "private viewing" in CA?

Perhaps there are some things they want to "fix"???

If it is postponed, it would be interesting to see when they scedule it.

Also, maybe as a result of the "private viewing", they may think that they have a "summer contender", as well.

While I have heard nothing but positive things from this film, I think it is a very bad move IF they move it to a summer release date. Next summer is one of the most stacked summers in movie history, and a smaller budget R rated movie will get lost among the major sequels and trilogies coming out next summer.

I would rather see it sooner than later. This news is actually quite dissapointing...

Deffinetly not a good move IF they decide to movie it summer 07. March or April is perfect!

I wish they would keep it in March... No later than April or else wait until the end of August or September.

I posted this on IMDb because I was wondering if this had any connection:

I was wondering if the change could be due to V for Vendetta and Sin City? Both are R rated comic book adaptations popular with fans, both got around the same gross ($70-74million) the same release time (17th March- 1st April), the gross was good for Sin City and average/OK for Vendetta, but this has a bigger budget than both of them ($60 million) and its possibly going to turn some people off because of the ancient setting. (no matter how good it is) Even though neither bombed, possibly they are looking for a different date for this R rated comic book adaptation?

Although I certainly can't see it going any better further in to the Summer with its pretty sure fire hits comming up this would get lost and January/Feburary isn't considered a good time either really.

Or where they thinking that those films did fine when put March/April which is why this one was going to be released around the same time and something changed for them to move it somewhere else?

I wonder if it will be moved late this year, does anyone know if its possible it could get finished in time?

^ you could be right. Yes, I would think the could have it finished by the end of this year.

well they might want to get a trailer out asap then, if they're going to make it to the end of the year.

I agree with you on all of your points!!

If they could get it out by the end of this year, that might be good. The only problem with that is last Narnia showed that at that time of year a family is more what people go to see than even massively promoted action films like King Kong, and this has even more restictions on it than that and with all the Christmassy type films coming out this one might get left in the dust.

Didn't the news of changing the date say another date in 2007 anyway? Not that thats set in stone. I think possibly a mid April date might work, get it a few more weeks in to the Summer season yet not coliding with Spiderman and Pirates.

This is going to be quite a tough sell, however good it is, which is probably what Warner Bros are thinking.

Thanks Lady Leonidas!

EMPIRE magazine recently interviewed the producers and Zach for WAtchmen.
In that article they're also talking about 300.
Zach will finish 300 this fall.

We were just told that it's still March 9, 2007. It hasn't moved.

Superhero Hype,

You said, "We were told"... who is the "we"?
