So for those who have seen the movie: Is AoU worth seeing in 3D? So far (imo) only GotG has benefited from the 3D format, but I need to buy tickets tonight if I'm gonna watch it opening night. What do you guys and gals think?

Definitely NOT 3D. I saw it in 3D yesterday but was very disappointed. To me, and I don't know the theater I went to is to blame or the camera's used, it was a bad experience. The shots aren't clear and I feel like I missed out on a lot of details. Especially during the opening sequence. I really couldn't tell what exactly Thor, Iron Man and Cap were doing because it was almost blurry.

So if you were to listen to my advice, check out the 2D version. The 3D doesn't add jack spit to this movie. I think I saw an article somewhere where Whedon says he didn't choose his camera's so it would work with 3D; he just picked the ones that he thought the best choice.

Thanks. If I can find a 2D Imax screening that will be my first choice.

Interesting, I saw it in 2D and came out thinking that it must need to be seen in 3D. I found the opening sequence and end battle in particular to be very blurry. I don't think I've ever squinted in a cinema before. I thought the cinema was to blame but it had a complete systems overhaul recently. Sounds like 2D and 3D is blurry. Curious now to hear reviews re IMAX experience.

Lol obviously if you saw it in 2D and it was blurry it's due to the theater.

Its only available here in 3D (Argentina)

I saw it in IMAX 3D only because I wanted the IMAX screen. As I expected, the 3D glasses kinda toned it down because the glasses made everything look darker and all the fast paced battles were hard to watch.

Will watch it in 2D soon to appreciate it more.

Well, just came from my 2nd screening tonight. Saw it on 2D.

Definitely had a better viewing experience in 2D. Everything was clearer and you could follow the fast-paced action sequence.

Everything looks kinda blurry in 3D during the action sequences...

Heck no. Its not the films fault maybe more the cinema itself but the colors were washed out and hardly noticed anything of note being in 3D where I went. Avoid if possible.

I'm going for both. IMAX 3D on Thursday and 2D the next day. I really want to see this on an IMAX screen but unfortunately those are 3D-only showings.

Yeah my hope is I can find a 2D Imax screening in the Boston area. I'll settle for an Imax knockoff if they offer 2D.

It sucks to hear the negative reviews of the film in 3D because unfortunately the only tickets I could pre-order online were UltraAVX 3D tickets. I think I'll take a run up to the theatre tomorrow and see if they have 2D screenings and if they do, exchange the tickets for a 2D show.

I, too, don't see the point in 3D and consider it a waste of money. It adds nothing to my experience and in fact, it lessens it. 2D all the way!

Converted 3D is the worst invention ever. Cheap 'thrills'... only not so cheap.

Went to a 3D showing a couple of years ago (on another movie of course) and promised myself I would never do it again.

got my tickets in 2D

2D tickets were not available last week - someone in SHH told me to wait a few days before the release

Good advice

its not available in IMAX 2D, but as long as it's not 3D....

I've gone off 3D, mostly since the theatre started making you buy the glasses instead of loaning them out. That said, 'Guardians' was clearly very well done in spite of being post-converted 3D, not native....

I saw the 2D version of Ultron last week, and would recommend that. It wasn't blurry in the least, and not sure what the earlier posts are getting at about that. The whole of the intro was just fine for me.

2D in Regal RPX for me. Nice 60 foot screen with awesome surround sound and no 3D headache.

I have not seen the movie but I always say 3d. I have heard that about half of people like 3d and like half don't yet like ever one I know doesn't like 3d so it kind of sucks lol. I guess I know a lot of odd people. Last year there where like 3 movies I think I didn't see in 3d that I wanted to just because my friends wouldn't go and see it in 3d. ASM2 had great 3d some of the best I have ever seen but I know some movies 3d is not that great but for me ever movie should be watched in 3d if it is a action movie. Now if it is just a comedy or animated movie then there is really no point.

This is the problem I faced. I wanted to get my tickets a week in advance last weekend and could only order 3D tickets. Now that I see the 2D tickets available online, tomorrow I'm heading off to the theatre to exchange them.

I thought about just keeping the 3D tickets but I've waited years for this movie. I'm going to do anything I can to maximize the experience. 3D would only take away from that.

Agreed

If they refuse to exchange them, throw a fit in front of everybody.
I believe 3D tickets are more expensive

ONLY see it in 3D if it's IMAX. Otherwise it's a waste of money.
