The main advantage of an IMAX 3D screening is seeing the thrills unfold on a huge screen that fully occupies your field of vision (and is accompanied by a top-notch sound system), so that you experience this blockbuster in the biggest and best way possible.

Grade: 9/10

Let's hope this 3D goodness continues into Marvel Studios' next outing, Iron Man 3.

Grade: A+

Is the 3D necessary along with all the goodies? Absolutely not. Will it make the whole event that much more fun? Definitely.

Grade: 8/10

While Michael Bay as a greater mastery of 3D, Whedon has mastery over creating a coherent narrative featuring characters you care about. I’ll always take the latter over the former.

Grade: A-

The action sequences are neat; some of the best in the recent times. Makes you feel, this is the kind of movie for which 3D technology was invented.

Grade: 7.5/10

I don’t understand why we would want to watch a film, shot in high definition only to muddy up the details with these glasses.

Grade: "Avoid at all costs."

I tend to not like post-converted 3D, but this has to be the best post-converted 3D I've ever seen. It just brought me into the world that much more than the movie did. Especially the last 30 minutes, it's worth seeing in 3D.

Grade: "Worth seeing in 3D."

I wasn’t a big fan of the 3D effects in Thor and Captain America, but it is a must with The Avengers. The final battle looks amazing and is in your face when you are wearing the glasses.

Grade: 5/5

Yes the film is in 3D and it rocks! The depth is spot on, the action sequences are nicely shot with a good use of the 3D effects for fight sequences, explosions and debris etc.

Grade: "The 3D rocks!"
:word: The Phoenix
Despite the murk and unwieldiness of 3D, Whedon orchestrates action sequences that are elegant and exciting, like a long, sweeping shot across the ruins of Manhattan from one embattled Avenger to the next that deserves the term "epic."

Grade: "Epic."

Bump for those still wondering whether to see it in IMAX 3D or not.

Thanks for compiling all those links, but I'm really curious to hear what people here thought of the 3D. I'm seeing it for the third time on Monday and have heard good things, I'm considering going IMAX 3D.

No other converted 3D film has looked this good. While the film doesn’t depend on the 3D, it’s presence certainly amplifies the action and heroics giving the film an added scope.

Grade: 5/5

If you only see one movie this year in IMAX 3D make it this one!

Grade: 4/5

Surprisingly, it is quite good. In fact, watching it in IMAX, it’s excellent! The best way a movie can use 3D technology is it use it to help bring the audience into the movie. To make them feel that they are “there”, inside the movie and the conversion for this movie accomplishes this.

Grade: "IMAX 3D is excellent!"

I was completely blown away by the quality of the 3D conversion as well as the IMAX remaster. I’ve seen 3D films where there is just depth added and nothing else. This is the first time where I’ve noticed things come out of the screen AND something go IN. Amazing 3D on this. And if you can, see this in IMAX 3D!

Grade: 5/5

everyone should absolutely 100% see it in IMAX 3D. I Haven't Written an official review, but I cant recommend it enough. You'll know you made the right decision when the IMAX Calibration screen comes up and the previews start to hit. Its worth it. The image isn't distorted or anything unless you have fuzzy glasses, after 10 minutes max, you won't notice the glasses.

I agree with TheNewGirl. I have never seen a film in IMAX 3D before and it was the best experience I ever had on a theatre. I don't think that I will be able to see it in anything other than IMAX 3D when I go see it again.

FYI:

Today, Thursday May 10, maybe the last day to see The Avengers in IMAX 3D in your theaters!

Warner Bros has a deal with movie theaters to remove The Avengers in IMAX to make room for their film Dark Shadows, so today maybe the last day to see Avengers in IMAX 3D in most cities.

I've checked my city, and the 2 films occupying IMAX 3D for the weekend will be Dark Shadows, and Wrath of the Titans (another WB film which has been out since March). No sign of The Avengers IMAX 3D in my city.

We've all been a part of The Avengers making history. IMAX 3D is an experience you'll never want to miss.

I saw it in IMAX 3D on Tuesday. It might have been the best post-conversion 3D I've seen, especially the NYC battle.

Just got home from watching it in "RealD 3D". First 3D movie I've seen since "Friday The 13th part 3" 25 some odd years ago. 3D hasn't gotten any better since then.

I did like the movie though. It was alot of fun. Can't wait to see it again on DVD and watch all the stuff I missed.:woot:

I think the IMAX 3D was not good at all. I had to take my glasses off every now and then to see if something was wrong with the glasses especially in the beginning to the middle of the film. My buddy said he had the same problem. The conversion, like most 3D conversions was unnecessary.

We both agreed Whedon should have opted to shoot most of the film using IMAX cameras.

I absolutely loved the IMAX 3D version! I saw the movie on release day in 2D, came away happy, giving it an 8.5. Saw it Saturday with the wifey in IMAX 3D and was completely blown away. I cant explain why teh 2nd viewing floored me, but it did. 9.5/10 for me now. Who knows, maybe a 2nd viewing in 2D would've had the same effect.

In any case, I had no issues with the IMAX 3D action...
