8 Months Later...

I just don't get why people eat this crap up
for all the complaining readers do about modern "stunt driven" comics, they still sell like hotcakes

Maybe, you know, they like the characters? Kamala, Sam, and Miles are all very popular because they're good characters.

Or its a new #1. Those tend to sell really well for high profile characters. The true test are the numbers 3+ months out. Most cant sustain the same sales past the initial arc

Definitely the incentive variants if they have this ****** system like the hip hop variants from last year:

There's already a variant of Champions #1 on eBay for 1000 bucks... If LCS's know that some people are willing to pay that price for variants, then yeah they will pre-order a ****load of the regular issues from another series to unlock said variants from another series and make a return of investment by selling them online for a hefty price.

That chart thingy makes no sense. Like at all.

Why not have a regular, a sub, and a 1:10 or 1:25? You know, give retailers a chance.

Kamala and Miles have earned their place and are legitimately good characters
none of the rest of them do anything for me, cyke shouldn't be here, amadeus was more interesting before hulking out, Viv Vision worked well in that very particular and creepy Vision story, but I don't know how well that'll translate to a team book....
Idk, when the Avengers and X comics are in such a rough place, I just don't think they should focus so much attention on a kids book

yeah but he specifically mentioned Kamala, Miles and Sam, who are popular characters and left the others out. Not everyone on a team title is going to be beloved, but if there are enough that one cares for, its enough to check out. Those 3 have a following and just headlined the recent flagship Avengers title. Spinning them off into a new series to grab to younger readers doesnt sound like the worst idea. If anything it may help increase the appeal of the other 3 cast members who dont currently have the same type of following

Is Sam really popular??
All I ever hear about Nova is "Bring back Ryder"

I don't know the exact sales numbers of his book, but he gets heavy exposure in the cartoons and is popular at least with that demographic.

I'll definitely be trying out Hawkeye, and maybe Hulk.

I hate how Bendis' involvement prevents me from truly getting excited for the new Iron Man books. The concepts are great, but there's so much trepidation for me because of how hit or miss Bendis is.

Not sure if this was posted anywhere but there was an update on the Blade comic. Really disappointed here, this was one of my most anticipated titles and liked the creative team alot.

Nrama: You mentioned that the DC exclusive contract disallows working for Marvel, but we talked last year about the relaunched Blade series. What all happened there?

Seeley: The short story is I quit. The long story is when Marvel hired me, I had just written ten years of a horror comic starring a female lead so I seemed like a good fit. So we threw around ideas of doing Blade’s daughter and when they announced it, Marvel was in a weird place because they had announced the hip-hop covers and a lot of people saw “here’s another black lead with an all-white creative team” and you know it’s valid and definitely the case. Once the announcement hit, it was just one bad week. I kinda felt that it was completely fair and never something we hadn’t considered, but everybody at Marvel was totally cool about it and wanted to find a way to make it work. After a while, I felt like it was me screwing this up. I couldn’t help but feel like a black woman might write this stuff better than me and saved them from me. In the wake of Black Panther launching so well, maybe Blade is the book they find new talent on.

I can only imagine the HORROR one feels when being told you shouldn't create because of your color. I Support U Tim.

@AfuaRichardson in a perfect world, it wouldn't matter. But in this one, let's get a bad ass black woman on It!

@HackinTimSeeley You just keep making kick ass stories & I'll keep spending my money on em.

@akell0828 I look forward to it. Marvel will make sure it's done well w/a great team! There were lots of changes so that may take time :]

@yourgwyneth Blade. Writer got some serious hate for being white on a black fem character by fans. I don't blame him for wanting to quit.

An upcoming solo title for America Chavez was just announced at NYCC, no creative team announced yet, though. Pretty excited for it, though. Hopefully this raises the chances at a Blue Marvel series!

What the hell Marvel? That's the most random splattering of crap I've ever seen.

New Series:

Doctor Strange/Punisher: Magic Bullets #1
Gamora #1
Gwenpool Holiday Special: Merry Mix-Up #1 (one-shot)
Hawkeye #1
Hulk #1
The Mighty Captain Marvel #0
Nova #1
Rocket Raccoon #1
Slapstick #1
Star-Lord #1
Star Wars: Classified #1-2
U.S.Avengers #1

Ending Series:

Deadpool: Back in Black #5
X-Men '92 #10

Sucks that X-Men '92 is ending. I was hoping that something awesome might have come out from that series.

But looking at those first 5 issue covers at my shop, nothing really struck me as anything interesting going on with those characters.

This whole fiasco over Chelsea Cain and Mockingbird is so embarrassing. I'm really starting to get tired of the worst side of the comic community making news like this, it just makes all of us look bad.

I can't really judge until I read what was tweeted to her. Though, I can comment on what she's done on her last Mockingbird issue: She's retconned [BLACKOUT]Bobbi's past about being a rape survivor and turned her into a lying, cheating murderer. Apparently Bobbi was too strong to be raped. So Cain has changed that...[/BLACKOUT]

I haven't read the issues in question, but I certainly don't agree with what she did to Bobbi's character based on what I've heard. But (1) that doesn't justify what happened and (2) apparently a lot of the hate was directed towards the final "Ask me about me feminist agenda" cover, with people attacking the mere concept of feminist messaging in comics. I haven't seen all of the tweets, but just reading through comments on the articles about this, that is unfortuantely happening.

I finally got around to reading Uncanny Avengers post-Secret Wars and really enjoyed it. New Avengers though? Baaaaaad.

How is Cable in that series? He's one of my faves but I really hate the concept behind UA

He feels more like the 90s version of himself than the more modern take (though I didn't read the Cable & X-Force series from a couple years ago... so maybe that influenced the transition). I was also confused a bit on where he was when coming into the story. But again, I didn't read Cable & X-Force, so that might explain it.

Thanks. Last thing I read of him was his resurrection during some crossover which I cant recall right now. God there have been so many in recent times

I'm guessing that was in the X-Sanction mini just prior to Avengers vs. X-Men.

They're all villains though, shouldn't it be "Run-in With The Devil"??
lol
