Interesting Thing #1: Whatever buffoonery Seth's Britt Reid may display in the trailer (the gas gun bit being the most egregious, which isn't saying much), the few shots of him in costume include one brief shot of GH arm-flipping a bad guy and another of him stomp-kicking another bad guy on his way out of the Black Beauty. Neither looking like a stumble-footed accident. Both looking like serious action movie beatdowns.

Interesting Thing #2: From Wikipedia, regarding the Dynamite GH comic series written by Kevin Smith and based on his rejected Green Hornet script:
"[T]he new Green Hornet is set in modern times, and deals with a new cast of heroes and villains. The new Green Hornet, Britt Reid Jr., is the rebellious and spoiled son of Britt Reid Sr., now a retired industrial and family man. When Britt Reid Sr. is slain by the Black Hornet, a yakuza mobster whose family was shamed by the original Green Hornet, the aging (but still physically fit) Kato returns, along with his deadly daughter, Mulan Kato, who has taken over the costumed identity of her father, to destroy the physical evidence of Reid's secret identity and bring Britt Reid Jr. to China, for training and safekeeping. Upon knowing that Mulan Kato has left to prowl the mob alone, Reid Jr. refuses Kato's help and decides to take over his family heirloom to rush in her aid. This incarnation of the Green Hornet, despite being physically in his prime, is still shown as unexperienced, brash and untrained, marking a starker contrast with the collected, silent, serious and deadly Mulan Kato: despite Katos being, historically, the sidekicks or the equals of the Green Hornets, in this incarnation Reid Jr. acts somewhat as Mulan's sidekick, following her orders and unable to be taken seriously from her."

Okay, maybe not exactly the same, but...ring any bells?

I think its The only buffoonery in the trailer. Plus, it's a scene that may not even end up in the final cut of the movie.

Right, many people on imdb are ignoring those shots, maybe because they're each less than a second in length? Also overlooked is the lengthier scene when it's clearly Rogen intensely roaring while firing the gattlings! Sorry, I think that is effing coooooool.

Actually, I mentioned those two shots in a post on IMDb. The response? "Still doesn't make up for Seth shooting himself in the face!" Sometimes I get the feeling that four guys on the internet won't rest until time travel technology allows them to replace this movie with a "dark serious crime thriller" (read: boring action movie) with Christian Bale/Daniel Craig in the lead and Christopher Nolan directing.

Right. Even I concede that the gas gun act is stupid (but obviously used for comedic shock effect) but others are unwilling to acknowledge that the character can learn from that foolish, dangerous mistake, and make up for it with bravery.

They sure jump around that board making it look like four hundred, though. I said it there, that if they're the kinds of fans The Green Hornet has had all these years, its no wonder he hasn't gotten more popular.

I am very sick and tired of Nolan and Bale being touted as the end-all for superhero movies. Batman Begins is indeed brilliant, but TDK is sorely overrated. If The Green Hornet went via TDK it would just be overkill in the serious dept.

I don't expect TGH to be either high art, groundbreaking, or good. It certainly should have been more crime noir, and Rogen would not be my first pick as Brit Reid. I am glad about humor with the Hornet, though. The TV series was sorely lacking in humor. I am expecting a routinely entertaining movie that will reintroduce a dormant character to the public, and maybe gain The Green Hornet some new, open minded fans.
