Columbia Pictures Options The Green Hornet

I remember reading an article in another Green Hornet thread here where he compared his GH to Batman and Robin.

i think a treatment like that would be okay for GH.... not necessarily that campy, but the overall tone could work....

i just think the more one liners in a superhero film the worse it is....

Is GH a DC character or an unaffiliated radio character like the Phantom & the Shadow? I know he ain't a Marvel character.
Unfortunately the Green Hornet is unaffiliated. But you can't imagine how happy I would be if DC purchased the Green Hornet character rights like they did with the Spirit. That would be Awesome! :woot:

DC already has Green Arrow and countless Green Lanterns.
Pass.
DC already has GH and Kato in Batman and Robin.

i agree... while i would love to see new GH comics, leave it to the indie publishers, because DC & Marvel wouldn't know how to handle pulpish characters

i agree... i mean the pulps and their world, their ways of life are almost seen as LORE, as if the 1930's & 40's never actually happened...

Unlike the shadow or the spider, the hornet doesn't have to stay in that era....

they can modernize him, but they need to stick with the REAL Hornet, not a campy guy in a coat that makes fun f his asian sidekick

wow, someone on the hype who actually acknowledges the Hornet, outside the Bruce Lee tv series....

ya' know, the way mst fans on here are, it's like the radio series never existed...

it's better in my opinion

A period [30s - 40s] Green Hornet movie would be great - I just hope there's someone in Hollywood with the talent to really do an good honest job of it.

I want to listen to more of the Green Hornet radio series, I have a tape or two I bought at a Cracker Barrel several years ago and still enjoy listening to them. I'll have to track down some more episodes sooner or later [preferably sooner].

Problem with pulp heroes like GH and Shadow is that the more modernized they get the more like Batman or just generic super-heroes they'll become.

Keeping them in that era allows them to remain unique.

Well, I don't know about marvel, but DC has published The Shadow in the past and currently has the rights to the Spirit and are doing a great job handling him, might I add. I think DC could handle The Green Hornet very nicely.:cwink:

i know... i have private files & marvel did The Shadow 1941: Hitler's Astrologer

they are both great

DARK HORSE has done some sadow too...

i doubt that today there would be any denny oneil type people @ any major company that could do the Hornet justice

For those that have never seen the show.

The logo is fine - still don't like the idea of Rogen playing Britt Reid/The Green Hornet.

I can't fault him for wanting to play the role [most guys would probably love the chance to portray a great hero] - but when it comes down to it Rogen just doesn't have the right build, even with losing weight and toning up.

Also everything I've read so far about the movie still leaves me with the bad taste of a "comedic adaptation. Humor in the movie is one thing, but Rogen still seems intent on turning the Green Hornet into some sort of comedy. Turning the Green Hornet into a comedy [or even outright spoof] leaves you with a Pink Panther movie - and if Rogen wants to write/be in a "new" Pink Panther movie he should run on over to Steve Martin and MGM.

i agree... but i would say give S. Rogen a chance.... think about what the fans did when keaton was anounced as the bat.....

he proved everyone wrong.....

Keaton was a proven serious actor before Batman. Sure, he did comedies but he had done other stuff before.

Rogen only an accomplished comedic actor who hasn't had one serious role in his acting career that I know of. He's a one trick pony right now.

If he does have the chops to be a serious actor he can try it on any sort of film he can create on his own time. If that works out fine then he can take on GH. He'd have proven himself for the role. GH isn't going anywhere. It'll still be there when he's actually proven himself as a serious actor.

If that isn't enough he should man up and give the role to someone who fits the role better then he does. They can start auditions with Clive Owen or Jeffrey Donovan.

clive owen would be great.... he could essentially play Dwight from Sin City with a mask & that's a great potrayal of GH

I'll give Rogen a chance, but had I gotten my pick Green Hornet/Britt Reid would have been Gerard Butler, maybe Tony Jaa as Kato.
Have The Lone Ranger (his uncle) cameo (in flashbacks), that would be awesome.
And "Flight of The Bumblebee" has to be the theme song for the movie. It absolutley has to.

I really don't think this idea will work but since Hollywood and half of America will pay for crap more power to them.

Danny Chan Kwok Kwan for kato he looks just like bruce and he RULES
