What kind of grades did you make in High School?
Were they good, bad, or fantastic?

I'm very curious and am asking for my experience.

Thank You.

i got mediocre grades, but fantastic test scores

In Second year of college. High School grades ranged from A's-C's in all my years.
Tests, I passed except for one I didn't care for which I ended up retaking a year later.(I also noticed it's the exact same test I failed)

I started off with pretty bad grades and conduct scores. I was disruptive, angry, full of self-hate, and generally didn't give a damn.
I didn't really come around until my junior year. Basically, my grades improved every year in high school, culminating with a 4.0 in my final semester. The irony of that is colleges don't get to see that grade until you've already been admitted. :o

I graduated high school Academic Elite.

College so far... bad start :csad:

Does community service do that much good in acceptance into college?

I have ALOT of hours.

Unless it affects what degree you want to acquire, it really doesn't matter to them. It can't hurt your chances of acceptance.

I was an above average high school student. Got a solid SAT score, wrote some good application essays, and showed a dedication to the college of my choice. And being black didn't hurt.

I got great grades in school. Top 5 out of 240 students.

That all changed when I came to uni to study law however. I used to ace everything with minimal effort, and I can break my back working now and still come out of it with crappy grades. It's only now, in my third year, that I properly understand what's expected of me.

If you pick a tough degree when you go off to college, expect to have to put a lot more work in than you're used to.

I got pretty good grades in high school but I always managed to do bad on tests and that has carried over to college

I made every grade in high school. I didn't take the SAT, since I took the ACT. The first and only time I took it, I got a 25.

The only classes I aced in college were billiards, disc games, swim and stay fit, and some classes I took correspondence

Community service is more valuable if you're trying to obtain a scholarship. I had NO community service hours and was still admitted early decision to the school of my choice. :o
But really, there's no way community service could hurt you... unless you volunteered so much that your grades tanked.

Helping out old people is overrated. :o :down

HS: 3.6 unweighted, 5.4 weighted GPA, plus I was an IB Diploma recepient and took 30 AP/IB credits with me to college.
1350 SAT

College: 3.2 GPA
157 LSAT

Law School: 3.159 GPA

Don't know how much that will help you, but there you go.

I did pretty well my first two years, and I was lucky because I was taking mostly sophomore classes my freshman year, so when I failed a class i didn't fall far behind.:o By junior year I started slacking off and by senior year had fairly average grades, but I'd taken some advanced classes and did pretty well on test so it all sort of evened out.

I did very well, before I skipped a grade.
Things used to click easily, and I never had to study.

Now, I feel average.
There isn't a day when I wish I didn't skip a grade. :csad:

...but hey, everything happens for a reason.
Maybe God wanted to see what my full potential was.

or maybe you're making a big deal out of nothing.

i got so-so grades.
i was in all AP classes, but i didn't really take school seriously.
i did alright on tests as well.
nothing stellar by any means.
just think if i would have "applied myself".:whatever:
