Another question to current and post-college students:

What really mattered the most?
GPA or SAT score?

What is the importance of high GPA versus the importance of a high SAT score?
Can you have one or the other and still be good?
How important is a SAT score and where can it get you?

Thank You.

My GPA's good right now. I think my weighted was like 3.41,something like that. I have my report card upstairs so I don't remember.. I haven't taken my SAT's though yet.:(

GPA, more and more colleges are beginning to realize that one test cannot determine someone's apptitude.

I have a 2.8-3.0 GPA, at the moment.

Is that good?

Depends what kind of school you're going for. Do you want a private school? If so, why kind of private school? The lower key ones will probably take you with that. Do you want a state school? Again, what kind? Major ones like Flordia, Penn State, etc require a little bit higher but smaller ones like Akron and Kent State would take that.

I still have plenty of time.
By my take, I'll probably end HS with a 3.3 GPA.

GPA.

It's reflective of long term success, whereas the SAT is just a one-shot hodge-podge of different skills. It's certainly important to do well on it, but not nearly as important as maintaining a strong GPA.

yea my lsat score was more important then either, and my score on the Florida Bar exam has been the most important of all

It's always the same. My GCSEs seemed important, then they meant nothing once I got my A Levels. Likewise, when I get my law degree this year, my A Levels will mean nothing.

It depends really. For the most part, schools are starting to weight GPA a little heavier now since it is an average of 3-4 years of school, whereas SATis just one test. There are instances however where GPA isn't always counted as high. I went to a private school and even though I took several AP classes, they weren't weighted extra like they are at many schools. Colleges knew that though and took it into account.

Basically both are important so kick ass on both :woot:

its like o.w.l.s and n.e.w.t.s, the next one you take is always more important than the last
