ABC's "No Ordinary Family"

Feel sorry for this show, quite enjoyed it but it had NO promotion. Prob won't last past this season if that.

NO promotion? Are u kidding? I've seen nearly a million ads for this show for the past month or so. Plus there've been a ton of tv spots. They were advertising the crap outta this show. Its probly why it got great ratings for its premiere.

That said, i really like this show, its a little cheesy at times but its ABC so what do you expect. The show has lots of potential so i'll stick with it.

P.S. What exactly is the son's power?

I just love the idea of Vic Mackey being a watered down Hulk. I want to see him go on a rampage through Farmington.

Thats the exact thought I had when the dad went crime fighting with the black shirt and leather jacket.

Chiklis is too happy. He needs to bring a little bit of Vic into the role. If Vic had Jim's powers hed probably have broken the teleporters legs for pissing him off.

I'm interested to see how things with the family's use of powers. It's obvious what Jim's intent is, but I think what's going to push the show for me is the other members respond to their abilities.

This show really surprised me on how well it is. I will definitely be watching for this show from now on. They say the pilot died but with going in that water who knows what will happen.

I wish they would've waited a bit on introducing other people with powers.I was hoping we'd just explore the family dealing with their own powers for a bit but they're already hinting that there's many people out there with abilities ala Heroes.

My DVR didn't record it properly...so unfortunately, i'm gonna have to find it online.

But so far for those who've seen it...how was it? 1-10?

In the 5 to 6 range, with lots o' potential.......to go up... or down.

Finally saw it. Not bad. Fantastic Four/Incredibles. The wife is Reed in this scenario.

........some suggestions.

Make dad bullet-proof, period.

Yeah I don't get the "bulletproof hands, soft head" thing...

Yeah I don't get the "bulletproof hands, soft head" thing...

More so...he has the power to "catch" bullets?.....must say it's an original super power...other supers can catch bullets, but his power is specifically to catch bullets:huh:

Well, I think it was largely because when he was shot in the head, it was at a closer range than he'd been shot before. And I think that spot on the back of the head is particularly soft anyway. Feels that way to me.

Well, he has superstrength which usually comes with a certain degree of "invulnerability". His just seems really uneven...

Good start..loved it

BUT LOSE THE "DAUGHTER'S...BOOO HOOO I HATE MY LIFE..BLAHH CRAP"

I don't know, I think that's a pretty understandable response to uncontrollable telepathy. That power would be really scary and hard to deal with.

Absolutely, make it simple....like Superman at first..."nothing short of a bursting artillery shell can pierce his skin".

"Catching" bullets is just........odd, and pretty sure it is stated so as a specific power, and not just a by-product. In the fight with the teleporter he is catching the bullets that are fired.

It's the difference between trying to catch a rock that's slingshotted to you (might hurt, but won't break skin by the time it got to you), vs having that slingshot be pulled back against your head and released, which will surely make your head bleed. The exception is that his tolerances are much, MUCH higher than ours in that regard.

Well, mom and dad can control their power, why wouldn't the daughter have the same control? Her origin is exactly the same.

I'm sick of super-power angst.

Makes me wonder if he has some kind of super-reflex or even some kind of "Spidey-sense." Considering not only was he catching bullets from the teleporter, he was also aware immediately where the teleporter would be, and was able to catch blows and bullets.

Amy Acker To Appear In No Ordinary Family?

If you caught the first episode of ABC’s new family drama series No Ordinary Family and are looking forward to more, you may want to keep an eye out for Amy Acker. Word is, the former Angel star is going to be on the series.

Romany Malco, who plays Michael Chiklis’ character Jim’s friend George St. Cloud on the series (and you might recognize him from Weeds or 40 Year Old Virgin), posted the following tweet tonight:

If UV seen NOF you'll be happy to know that hottie @AmyAcker will be working w / George St. Cloud!

We haven't seen anything official from ABC on this news yet, but we'll be keeping an eye out for confirmation and more details. As far as Malco's tweet, does “working with" mean job related? Or perhaps she’ll get involved in George’s part in Jim’s new role as a moonlighting superhero. Either way, if it's true, I love it! And not to get too Buffy-geek here but this will be a Whedonverse collision as NoF's Julie Benz was also in Angel.

In addition to her roles in Angel, Alias and Dollhouse, Acker was also among the cast of ABC’s Happytown.

Perhaps........but the alley encounter doesn't jibe.

Perhaps........but the alley encounter doesn't jibe.

True, but then again, he didn't even know the guy was also a super at that point. Nor did he know he'd be vulnerable in that way. Probably assumed he was out and out invincible. No need to get your guard up when you think you can't be hurt by a gun, let alone a mere human.

Well, mom and dad can control their power, why wouldn't the daughter have the same control? Her origin is exactly the same.

Because it's been shown, so far, that she can't control her power at all. Which makes sense. Mom and Dad, their powers are simply enhances physical attributes. The same things they've always done. Just better. Brother's the same way too. He's still doing what he's always done (thinking), it's just faster and easier for him. Sister, however, she's in uncharted territory. She has a completely new and unfamiliar form of sensory input, with no idea how to turn it on or off. It makes sense that her power would take the most getting used to.

Jim's invulnerability could be akin to Batman's suit in Nolan's films: anything is fine except for a straight shot.

Damn you Nolan, is there escape?!!!! :cmad:

Could be like Heroes. Weakness is the back of the head.
