ABC's "No Ordinary Family"

being a the shield fan, a mention of a money train made me smile.

These programming execs sure have great timing. They put the show on hiatus just as it's hitting its stride: http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2010/12/08/abcs-no-ordinary-family-builds-its-audience/74795

For the 2nd straight week in its new 9 pm time period, ABC’s “No Ordinary Family” outdrew Fox’s “Glee”-fueled original comedies (“Raising Hope”/”Running Wilde”) by 13% in Total Viewers. The ABC freshman series ranked No. 1 against its broadcast rivals in the hour with Kids 2-11 (1.6/6). The show also continued to improve its new time period for ABC (+1.7 million – 6.3 million vs. 4.3 million) over original programming in the hour on the same night last year (12/8/09). “No Ordinary Family” increased its overall audience week to week, tied its top Adult 18-49 number in 4 weeks and matched a best-since-premiere rating with Kids 2-11 – since 11/9/10 and 10/5/10, respectively.

Not the first show this has happened to, either. Won't be the last.

Oh, and I was right :yay::

I think I just figured out "Will's" game:

He's trying to figure out how the Powell's are able to sustain powers without Dr. King's injection. This is why he's hiding it from Dr. King--he's trying to figure out a way to "circumvent" the evil doctor.
Now, whether he's good or bad, that's still up in the air.

And I think the "evilness" of "Will/Joshua" is established, at this point.

EDIT: I read a great theory about how Daphne is going to start to regain her lost memories:

She can touch people and look back at the months she's missing.

That is, if her powers are unaffected.

It was a good episode but I really wanted to Daphne to tell her parents about Will/TK guy instead of her memories getting erased. Hopefully she gains them back within the next 3 episodes. I doubt her powers will be affected though.

Hopefully we will see some actual good "heroes". I wish they could just pluck Elle out of the Heroesverse and into this show.

And I am guessing that Autumn Reeser will probably miss the first few episodes of S2 if it gets picked up since she is pregnant now.

Pretty good ep. I really like how proficient and how effortless Joshua is with his TK. Should be a pretty good villain battle with the family.

I hope they have an Iceman hero later on.

I hope they run into a good suped person as well. Ice, water, fire, whatever. They can't all be bad guys.

Although i think it does make sense that most of these supers are evil, or at least selfish. Most people probably would be evil/selfish too in real life if they got super powers. "Joshua" is awesome by the way. He could give Sylar a run for his money TK wise.

Dude, I'm sorry but NO. Ive been doing back and rewatching some of Heroes and I still say that Sylar had some of the best tk moments ever. The thought of slicing someones head open with a mere thought, yea Joshua aint **** compared to Sylar at least in inventive ways of using tk

Sylar was all offense. Pushing people onto walls, cutting skulls open etc...

Josh is more finesse-like. He could do all the offense, but he could also force people into chairs and have them write suicide notes using his TK.

Yeah, his TK more subtle. Sylar was more brute force.

Josh has this classy way of using his TK. I like it. I also like that there are hints he's conflicted. He may help out the Powell family in the end.

It seems like the last time we had a good "hero" with TK in a tvshow was Prue from Charmed. Wouldnt mind if they brought in a good person who knew how to use TK in this show.

It's a damn shame Prue died on Charmed, would have loved to see her power grow to the point it was when the sisters went to the future.

Finally saw the latest episode last night. So I guess JJ has a super-nerd girlfriend now? :oldrazz:

I have to say Autumn Reeser's character is growing on me. Didn't really like her much at first, her character was sorta annoying, but the relationship with Will/Joshua has made her more likable to me. Plus, she's hot. :hrt:

Well, wiping her memory made sense. This dude is becoming the Sylar of the show though, with random ass powers popping up as the plot requires.

Maybe the memory-wipe made sense to evil TK guy but from an audience perspective it seems like a lame plot device. I mean, what'd evil TK guy think would happen when Daphne's parents found out about it? And did he seriously need to go all TK on Daphne to scare her? I think he could've handled the situation better. It's also becoming increasingly obvious that Daphne needs to be less tense/nervous when doing mind-reading, because that deer-in-headlights look gives her away every time.

The corporate bad guy (Steph's boss) is getting on my nerves btw. Could we at least know his secret agenda instead of this mysterious cloak-and-dagger stuff?

ya, if anything it left me wondering why he went back so far? why not just wipe her memory of the last week or so (however far back, she first tried to read him mind) it would seem a little less obvious... tho, I guess any amount of time loss, memory lapse would be noticeable to at least her

Maybe he didnt have control over how far he could wipe a memory?

New episodes return Tuesday, January, 4th, 2011 right before the season premiere of V.

I'm up to date now but just two questions;

1) speed girl immune to lipstick but strong guy is not?
strong guy is allergic but speed girl is not (not a stretch)...okay, so why was the plant effected? that made no sense.

2) how 'will' knew to turn up for the blind date?
he couldn't have possibly got the information from the dating site.
my explaination is he needed an 'in' to get close to the family, saw that speed girl had an assistant so followed her, saw she (assistant) was alone for ages at the resturant and decided to try his luck. I guess that works but that assumes he knew she is single and not waiting for her late boyfriend.

also during dinner;
nothing in the dating site correspondence (between her and JJ) came up?
will's occupation never came up?
will's family never came up?
will's home never came up?
will's geek savvy never came up (you can DEFINATELY assume JJ knew the assistants comic/sci-fi in jokes)?

what did they talk about? cheese? the weather?

Just watched an ep of The Shield where the guy who plays the jerk cop on this show appeared as a gangbanger who stole some cash from Mackey and crew. Both have put on a few pounds since then :meanie:

New ep. tonight, and it's back at its normal time slot.

Katie is a virgin? :wow:

i missed the beginning did the girl get her memory back?

By touching her family. So it wasn't her actual memories, but she knows what her and her family has been through for the past three months. Except none of the family were around the instance her mind was wiped, so she doesn't know anything about that.

no one seems to concerned with the fact that she lost the last 3 months of her education...

but, I guess, that kinda thing isn't important...

LOL, I thought the same thing. Oh well, school is rarely important on television.

She could always use her powers to cheat her way through school though. Does her powers work by touching other things besides people? Maybe off camera she uses her power of recollection to regain the knowledge that she lost by touching books & or other things related to school & all those memories come rushing back to her. Has she been given the ability to foresee future events yet or only past events?
