Accidental shooting kills one on set of new Alec Baldwin movie

Interesting. Perfectly understandable how tense he is right now.

Except his "well oiled" comment.

That screams "I can't be seen to acknowledge we knew there were concerns beforehand", ass-covering.

I can't stand his wife trying to insert herself into the conversation. It's almost like an SNL parody.
Probably it was the wife's attempt to get Baldwin to shut up and move on. Almost certainly, this would have been his lawyer's instructions.

Yeah, she’s just looking out that the vultures don’t get him to say something that they’ll spin.

Vultures couldn’t even pronounce Halyna’s name right.

Those Jackals don't care about Helayna, they just want Baldwin to hang himself with his own statements.

That's all probably true. He hasn't been doing himself any favors either, since that initial pretty-well-worded statement. The guy just literally said to them the production was "well oiled". We know for a fact by now that's not the case.

He just can't publically say he knew anything about the prior issues (he totally would have), because it opens him up to negligence.

Hasn't Halls been accused of safety negligence on at least one other production, as well as this one?

Baldwin’s publicist and lawyers must be sweating bullets after that video lol. I feel bad for him, but he needs to just keep quiet. That video did him no favors.

The non-stop ****ery.
Oh lord... Politics is gonna get dragged into this, isn't it?

Someone is gonna make a claim of MAGA sabotage to cover their asses.

And then all hell is gonna break lose.

Heh, yeah, probably. "We're in New Mexico, some red-hat switched the rounds to stick it to the Hollywood libs!".

The cops'll figure out what happened though, one way or another. These things take time.

I think there’s more to it than just the gun issue, especially with this production, but this makes sense to me. These films aren’t turn-of-the-century old west shows. I think we can put the real weaponry away.

The cast of RENO 911! Talked about the use of prop electronic guns on their show I believe. Authentic looking mechanisms that totally looked the part and were electric which was what caused the muzzle flash, moved the sliding components and possibly made a satisfying enough sound. That was over a decade back when that show was still on. I had the DVD set of one of the seasons and listened to it with cast/creator commentary on.

It was the first thing I thought of when the news of what happened first hit.

I'm sure such devices cost more than your average dummy gun but I just assumed it was a good midway point to balance safety and good on set presence and affect without having to resort to fully CGI muzzle flash VFX which can look dodgy depending on production, I would imagine it would add more cost to quite a few projects especially ones that were scraping by as it was.

Nickel and dimes are gonna affect this by a large degree no doubt.

Wasn't this the guy who admitted to not properly inspecting the weapon? Where does he get off saying this?

Yee-up. I'd love to see them back that statement.

It's just the usual "anything to get the client off" stuff. "Prove someone didn't swap out the bullets unbeknownst to my client!". Lawyers being lawyers.
