Accidental shooting kills one on set of new Alec Baldwin movie

'Splosions & car chases and fisticuffs are still cool though, right Dwayne? Nothing's ever gone wrong there on a movie.

It's protocol and responsibility. Get the people in line, fire anyone who's not dotting their 'i's' and crossing their 't's, that's all this is. Guess he's doing it voluntarily though, whatever, that's fine. Forcing it industry-wise is the usual irrational "makes me feel better, not much else" schtick though, they don't need to go that road.

I can't blame him. I wouldn't feel comfortable having people shoot at me with real guns on a set. I didn't even know that was happening, I always assumed they were fake. Why would you even use real guns? It's not like the audience can notice it. I don't think you can compare that to stunt work.

It's a fair point. There should be a tampering down of safety protocols at every level.

Talking about the law involved is important. Especially since there is a lot of media focus on Baldwin's legal liability.
 
Agreed, that thumbnail of him posing with “shooting on set” is awkward AF. He should’ve just left himself off it.

This set looks like it was a disaster waiting to happen. I don't think a single person is at fault. Multiple parties and circumstances were at fault, and a production not willing to spend the extra time and money to make sure competent people were on board and that safety first was not paramount here.

Also, why is no one talking about the director in all of this? What was his attitude about these circumstances? Did he have no power or control?

The producers making shirts because crew members wanted housing or hotel rooms is despicable.
 
Usually the “power” on the running of the set and crew lays at the First AD, not the director. The director is too busy creatively getting the performances of the actors and shots.
 
If safety protocols are followed to the letter you won't need police officers there.
