I'm not wanting it to be a place to go to complain, *****, and moan about all the negative thing about collecting. We are collecting for a reason: there is some morbid bit of joy that we get out of it. My idea is to create a satire website in the spirit of The Daily Show and the Colbert report, but only to a degree. Remember, just because we have an opinion doesn't mean it's a GOOD or valid opinion, or one that people want to read.
Things I think we'd need:
1. Solid writing: This means above forum-standard grammar. No "lol". Complete sentences. Structure. Ya know, intelligible stuff.
2. 4-5 consistent weekly writers.
3. Creative, well-thought out articles.
4. Pictures that are of more than just massive cluttered collections. (Spidey-Boy, this is not a poke at you at all. Some sites just feature collection after cluttered collection of stuff we've seen dozens of times)
5. Try to talk about things that are not the current flame-fest in the forums. I.e., we avoid "hasbro sucks", "Mattel can't distribute", etc. We're not industry insiders: we don't know why companies do what they do and why retailers do what they do. I think we have to be above assuming our singular, personal experiences represent the world as a whole. For instance, I just found some of DCUC6 at Target last night. I figure, well, it's coming out and normal. Low and behold, I go on fwoosh and find out there has only been one other sighting of DCUC6 at a target in like 80 pages of a thread. However, another thread for the Walmart DCUC exclusive line would indicate lots of people have found it compared to me not finding it at all.
6. Editorial review. Whether it's one person, or many, posted articles should be reviewed prior to posting. Sorry, but some people have the ability to write some incoherent crap and there needs to be some oversight set up.
