10. The Matrix
You think you're going to get this huge action sequence... but "No." Simply, "No." Neo don **** you up!
9. The Lion King
Animated? Sure. But as a kid, this was my favourite fight seen to watch. That is until I watched...
8. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Yes. The entire movie built up to this fight - and even combined, the Turtles lose. Who saves them? Their cane wielding mentor. Yoda only jacked his style.
7. Spider-Man
As much as I don't like this film, the final fight scene was amazing - especially how **** is made personal with MJ on the line, and him learning Green Goblin is actually Norman Osbourne MID-FIGHT!? Amazing.
6. The Dark Knight
Batman's fight with the SWAT followed by his confrontation with the Joker were both very well welcomed on my part. In both Nolan films it was difficult to make out the action in the fights, but in this we truly see Batman's best, and worst. Such an incredible fight scene.
5. The Phantom Menace
This fight scene highhandedly saved this movie from being a complete flop (at least in my books) and redefined the sword-fighting confrontations of cinema - and that "WHABAM! SECOND BLADE!!!" moment of glory made my jaw drop as a kid. Freaking awesome - oh and the epic score!!! I don't think I had ever seen choir music used in a fight seen like this before this film, but after it, I seem to see it everywhere.
4. Revenge of the Sith
A duel thirty years in the making! To finally watch Anakin turn to evil, and fight his brother... Simply incredible. A little long and over dramatic, but I will never forget my reactions to this fight the first time I saw it in theaters. You become so emotionally invested, and were it not for Hayden Christensen's poor delivery of half of his lines, the conclusion of this fight would bring tears to one's eyes.
3. Gladiator
A fight where literally both parties might [BLACKOUT](and do)[/BLACKOUT] die. The absence of music really heightens the intensity (which most action films fail to do when they remove the score), and we truly feel pity for Commodus and his past (especially when watching it in the Extended Edition) and compassion for Maximus. Not overboard still gripping! One of the greatest fights in cinematic history.
2. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2
After seven books and eight films, every fan was waiting to see this fight on the big screen and boy did it deliver! After seeing that Harry and Voldemort would ACTUALLY FIGHT (as opposed to the ending in the book) in the trailers, I was incredibly excited to see this fight, and the different stages Harry goes through during his final fight with Voldemort are very entertaining to watch. A great conclusion to an epic series, second only to the ending of...
1. Return of the Jedi
What can I say about this fight that hasn't been said before? Watching this fight you know that if Luke "wins", he actually "loses". For the first time we see the father fighting the son with all the chips on the table - and during the fight it does become ALL of the chips as Vader learns of Leia. The shots in this fight, the music, the emotion behind every angry blow from Luke in the end, and his realisation of how he is becoming his father... layers and layers of symbolism. And then Luke's refusal to play the Emperor's petty game increases depth of emotion within the scene. The finale with the Emperor shows us that compassion will win in the end - I've never seen a fight seen do all of that AND in addition to that, stand as the climactic finale of the biggest film saga in human history.
