With anticipation already gearing up for the Fourth installment in the adventures of Dr. Jones, I figured to complete my "Appreciation" thread series (hoo hoo :p ) with, in my honest opinion, the greatest film-originated trilogy of all time.

By film-originated, I mean a story and character that was created solely for film, as opposed to being inspired from a book (LOTR) or comic (Spiderman)

Discuss one of the greatest films of all time, and my choice for Spielberg's greatest film, Raiders of the Lost Ark:

And it's equally classic sequels; The Temple of Doom and The Last Crusade:

You must be bored. We use the Indy 4 thread to talk about all of the movies. ...lol

Yeah, but I figured it could move over here and we leave the Indy 4 thread open for Indy 4 itself.

As the film's release gets closer, talk about the previous 3 would stop short anyway...

Here, it doesn't have to move aside for Indy 4 :)

I love these movies. "Raiders of the Lost Ark" is one of the greatest movies of all time. I never understood the hate for "Temple of Doom".

Y'know I didn't either...

I love Temple of Doom because it's actually different from the other two.

Hell, "Last Crusade" even used the same formula for its opening as "Raiders." (Indy has a small initial adventure CUT TO Indy teaches a class that Brody walks into CUT TO third party comes in persuading Indy to go on an adventure of a religious artifact.)

I love Raiders and Temple. Crusade is ok.

Gotta be honest; Temple of Doom is my personal favorite. Even more so than Raiders.

Short Round is Indy's best sidekick

I love the opening scene in Temple of Doom. Not as iconic as Raiders opener but still great. I always saw it as an homage to James Bond. Indy in a tux sipping a martini.

I love the Indiana Jones movies...all 3 are classics.

However, I can't get hyped for Indy 4. I would love to, but I can't. I expect it to be either mediocre or suck, which is a shame since all 3 Indy films are so good.

Temple's opening is sooo great, I LOVE Willie's opening number of "Anything Goes"

Raiders is the bar I measure all other action-adventure movies against. It's the best of the best.

And there was so much wonderful dialogue...(remembers Episode III) Damn you, Lawrence Kasdan! How dare you abandon us!

I don't get the love for Temple of Doom. It's humour was all stupid slapstick. And Willie was so annoying, all she did was scream and complain. It got old REALLY fast.

Although all the films have a supernatural element to them,I love Raiders the best because it's the most creepy of all three. Esp. with the score and of course, the opening of the Ark at the end. The best action too,I think.

Willie....god, what a let-down after Willie. They should have just kept to Short Round, or at least sidled him with the ***** Galore equivalent.

I had to get the hat and the whip when I was a kid.

and the last 30 minutes of The Last Crusade were perfect. I love those scenes.

i think the first 3 movies are so good that it shouldnt be a problem paying for all 4. you have a 2 hour movie where you can compare how Indian Jones got older

Nice trailer for bluray set. Can't wait to here what the specs will be on set.

A must buy! just seeing that trailer was a great feeling. I hope the box is as nicely done as the Star Wars Blu Ray.

Looking at your opening post CFE, from 5 years ago, it's like with your last line you had seen the trailer in advance. :woot:
