is there a performance by an actor that you were surprised didn't get them a nomination?

i will start

Ryan Gosling - Blue Valentine

It should be "Should have been" instead of "Should of been".

Jean Louis Trintignant - Amour
Isabelle Huppert - Amour
Payman Maadi - A Separation
Leila Hatami - A Separation
Sareh Bayat - A Separation
Shahab Hosseini - A Separation
Sarina Farhadi - A Separation

Given the nature of the Academy at the time it's easy to understand, but there is no way in hell you can tell me Ricardo Montalban should not have at least gotten a Supporting Actor nom for Khan in WOK.

If you are going to say what should have been nominated you should also say what should not have been in its place. Cause there are only five spots, if you have at least six great ones in a year someone is going to be left out.

It should be "Should have been" instead of "Should of been".
This "should of" is happening more and more frequent. But why?
I suspect it's now "the thing" to use that kind of wrong grammar, to deliberately doing wrong is kind of cool.

Anyway, here's my two cent: Terence Hill should of been nominated for My name is Nobody", lol

Elizabeth Olsen in Martha Marcy May Marlene
Lesley Manville in Another Year

Nah it's just poor grammar likely. "Should of" and "should have" sound quite similar and not different enough to really be making a "cool" statement by using it.

In speech many people say could of instead of could've due to it being so similar and it is starting to bleed into writing because they want to write how they talk. Wrong yes, but understandable.

Then it should be limited to speech. It doesn't make even the slightest sense when written.
