Hey everyone! I know many of you are big film nuts so I need some advice. I'm very passionate about the film industry but can't get over how much film schools cost. I saw this film school alternative called The Film Connection. Their website is http://www.filmconnection.com Has anyone heard of this program? The say you work one on one with someone already working in the film industry and get hands on experience and make connections for future gigs. I know it's more about who you know than what you know when it comes to the entertainment industry. What do you all think?

I think the guys who made Monsturd didnt need no fancy schoolin', and thats good enough for me.

Here's the gist film school does not mean anything. However, the importance of film school is that it'll help you realize your potential as a film-maker thus more likely to get a job. If you're really serious about working in the industry, you should start scoping out internships and things you can put on a resume as well as learning as much as possible about the craft.

I majored in film. Taught me a few things, but nothing I couldn't learn on my own if I was motivated to learn it.

Didn't teach me how to land a picture deal with a studio or even get a job as a PA.

So maybe look into film connection and get some intern gigs on my own?

I'd recommend buying a camera and shooting some movies with your friends. See where that takes you.
