No interest in flying games, but I'm glad to see Age of Empires returning. The new game looks pretty neat.

I remember playing Age of Empires in Grade School. The installer came with the package when we purchased the PC. One time, I spent the entire day playing it until my eyes were sore. Glad that it's coming and hopefully better.

What's with the cartoony look for AoE? And wasn't the original plan to do 4 as modern and 5 as futuristic? Either way, I've registered for the BETA.

Probably designed to run on a wide range of computers. Stylizing a game to be less anatomically grounded helps visually VS performance. It can also help add longevity. Either that and/or it's designed to be like a MAC without sharp edges for fluffy people presumably playing farmville, right now.
