Iron Man 2 Agent Coulson Returns, Kate Mara joins

As small of a role he played, its kinda nice that they're bringing back Coulson and they wont just completely disregard the character.

I've never heard off Kate Mara before. Going only by looks based on that comparison shot, her playing Bethany Cabe seems probable. My only hang up with that being that I don't think she really has the right look for it.

My gut is telling me she'll be playing bimbo #3 or something like that. Pure eye candy, like the pole-dancing stewardesses.

Except that she is an actual actress, and a good one at that.

She can pass for a 30 year old if they do the makeup right. What's Stark like 40ish??? She doesn't look that young that's all I'm saying. She certainly isn't playing Madame Masque. And I don't see her playing a random reporter, or a SHIELD agent or anything of that matter otherwise they'd have brought back Bibb. Or maybe she is just a Justun Hammers assistant and a villain, that I could see.

Stark's mid-thirties unless they end up saying other-wise. Just because RDJ is in his early 40's doesn't mean the character is. I don't know about the Cabe speculation but the character absolutely needs to be introduced at some point in these films. Pepper Potts is to Tony Stark what Gwen Stacy is to Peter Parker. However, Bethany Cabe is to Tony Stark what Mary Jane is to Peter Parker. She's probably the single most important love interest for Iron Man throughout all of the comics. Pepper? Not nearly as much, though they are rebuilding that I hear with the more recent comics.

I'm afraid this is a sequel to Anthony Michael Hall in Dark Knight. We all thought he was the Riddler when he was actually Mike Engel. This is going to be the same.

Yeah I was going to mention Hall... the reason I don't she's Bethany Cabe is bacause she's too young for RDJ IMO... so is Scarlet Jo but that's different. It's going to start getting awkward if one of the MAIN love interests looks 15 years younger than Stark. Again the makeup can make that look like 10 years but still. Not to mention there are way too many characters and a cameo would be pointless. I say a random reporter/random lover interest/villain that gets killed off early.

If Mara isn't gonna be Cabe (which I hope she is) they at least oughta cast somebody round Paltrow's age who COULD be Cabe. She needs to be introduced somewhere in these movies.

And after seeing the Invincible Iron Man movie is there a reason why Paltrow Potts wasn't even English?

^The cartoon is the one that got it wrong. Potts isn't English in the comics. She's an American.

I've seen We Are Marshall(wasn't impressed) and I can't remember her in it at all. Really can't remember anyone in that film other than McCrapahey and that guy from Deadwood. Haven't seen those other two.

I rarely like female characters that are just pretty much supposed to be the female version of a male character. I'm sure you hear that all the time, but I did look her up when I first heard of her, read the basic story on each one of them and don't find them particularly interesting.

Agreed, but there's no way to know for sure that she'd be a redhead in the film. And yes, there are A LOT of redheads roaming around. You can partially thank Stan Lee for that. I think he made more redheaded female characters than any other hair color. Maybe he has a thing for redheads.

Anyway getting back to Mara, we believe there may be a flashback with Howard Stark in the film. It is conceivable that Maria Stark might show up in that as well. She could be Maria Stark, er..Maria Collins Carbonell Stark to be prescise.
