Alcohol... the cause and solution to all our problems.

I don't think our local stores sell those kinds of Root Beers though. At least IU haven't seen them in the stores, mostly just IBC.

Go to specialty food stores like EarthFare, Fresh Market, Whole Foods or whatever the equivalent to those are where you live.

No. I actually thought you were kidding (seriously) when you said peer pressure. I've been a teenager and never felt the need to do any of that for friends or otherwise.

I dont get it, you say its social, but you dont enjoy it?? That doesnt make sense to me. Why would you have less friends? I'm not being critical, I just don't understand. Honestly. I have friends that drink and they aren't less friends of mine because I don't.

I don't really enjoy drinking beer, but I love the pub atmosphere and unfortunately diving right into the liquor isn't as socially acceptable as having a pint (especially if you're attempting to impress a girl).

You asked me why people who hate beer drink it in the first place and I gave you my answer (peer pressure). Can't really do much beyond that, except go in circles with you. So let's just chalk this up to "people are different" and leave it at that.

Aside from beer, I really enjoy trying new types of mixed drinks, shots, and liquor in general. When my friend and I were at happy hour last weekend I asked the bartender to pour me his favorite shot, and ended up trying red stag (black cherry flavored whiskey). It was so good.

When I go out dancing my go-to drink is usually some form of flavored vodka and sprite. I'm also currently a fan of goose, cranberry, and club soda. Favorite mixed shot is a buttery nipple and favorite plain shot at the moment is coconut ciroc or any of the pinnacle vodka flavors. Other than vodka, I love rum. Not really a wine girl, but I like prosecco and I suppose u can also consider nuvo a sparkling wine.

Gonna dive into a dive
I've dove into before
Gonna haunt a haunt I've haunted
Like a million times or more
A familiar joint
Where getting drunk's the only point
To frequent this place
With any frequency at all
Countin' on a remedy
I've counted on before
Goin' with a cure that's never failed me
What you call the disease,
I call the remedy
What you're callin' the cause,
I call the cure
Gonna sing a song, a song to you
A song I've sung before
Belt out a ballad that I've belted out
A million times or more
The words I'm gonna scream
And getting drunk's the central theme
to the lyrics, if you can
make the lyrics out at all
Countin' on a remedy
I've counted on before
Goin' with a cure that's never failed me
What you call the disease,
I call the remedy
What you're callin' the cause,
I call the cure
Just a devotion to a potion
Please no applause
A dedication to a medication
A crutch a cure a cause
What I've counted on to pick me up
Has knocked me to my knees
Before I hit the floor once more
I'll call it the disease

Not a lot of drinking going on, still nursing. Occasionally I'll have a beer or a glass of wine. I can't even find the time to go for drinks with coworkers after work, might be a good thing. Before I had to cease drinking I was all about vanilla vodka and oj.

I can certainly agree that people are different. No problem and I am not trying to start any argument or anything.

But your post that I quoted here makes me think you are a bit of a slave to what others think of you or at least what you may think that they think of you.
You spoke of doing something that you said you dont enjoy, but do it (beer) rather than liquor (Im assuming you must prefer liquor over beer) because it isnt as socially acceptable (again, conforming) and then mentioned doing such things to impress a girl. Thats a 3 headed monster of doing things for acceptance/conformity/to impress others in my opinion.

Please dont think I am trying to judge you. I really dont care if you drink legally, as long as you are responsible (no drunk driving, etc). But maybe me pointing this out will help you see that you arent even doing anything for yourself with this (based on what you said alone, not my opinion of the matter).

A while back, I came across this article: Drinks That You Should be Ashamed to Order in Public.

I disagree with a good portion of that.

Great. Then let's agree to dis--... oh wait, what's this?

... ouch.

Yes, I'm such a mess. My irrational drive to not turn off girls at the bar is ruining my life. Please help me, mrvlknight21.

Please dont think I am trying to judge you.

Well... at least you didn't try to judge me. :o

Gee, thanks for your concern. But I think I'll be fine.

Seriously man, I found that a bit offensive (even if you didn't intend it that way). Maybe I have an irrational need to conform to what my peers expect in a pub setting. But it seems you have an irrational need to headshrink complete strangers over an internet forum. Found it all a bit patronizing.

Please let's leave it here, already.

Screw that list. I'll order whatever I like. Long Island Ice Teas are one of my favorite mixed drinks.

I had Red Stag for the first time the other day. Doing a shot was delicious, and mixing it with coke, It tasted exactly like cherry coke and had no real alcohol flavor. It was dangerous as hell.

What? Thats like, every drink ever. lame.

And finally, my birthday is sunday. I will be 26. I plan on going to my favorite bar on Friday and drinking until I can't feel feelings anymore. Me and a buddy go to this bar every friday, and we know the bartender, and last year he got me so drunk I passed out outside because, "this grass is the greatest thing I have ever laid in IN MY LIFE." Also, this is the only day of the year I get blacked out drunk, its kind of an annual thing now.

I started drinking White Russians because I saw the Big Lebowski. I love 'em.

I love those two, but I stopped drinking them at bars because I'm lactose intolerant. At home, I still make them but with Lactaid Milk. Sounds gross, but it almost tastes better than regular milk.

Anyone else like Kona Longboard beer?

i personally am much more of a fan of green smokable plants*, BUT-
i do quite enjoy drinking, but have been mostly turned off by hard liqour like vodka, rum, etc; it always makes me sick,
so i usually just enjoy a couple cold bud lites or heineken around the house

I know there's American-beer hate around here, but I'll say it. I like Budweiser. It's the only domestic beer I'll drink. But I like it.

I know how you feel. If I didnt drink Miller Genuine Draft or Corona, I wouldnt drink alcohol at all.

It has the word "Longboard" right in it, brah.

I don't get the connection and something tells me you don't know what you're talking about. The term "hipster" is yet another stupid internet term where everyone or anything is a "hipster" now days. If anything I would think it would be more of a surfer type of beer because of the "Longboard" as well as the fact that it's brewed in Hawaii.
