Starz is adding to its scripted roster, giving a straight-to-series pickup for Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu'sTV drama The One Percent. The premium cable network has picked up 10 episodes of the drama starring Ed Helms, Hilary Swank and Ed Harris,The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
One Percent is set in the world of organic farming. Helms will play Alfred Murphy, a member of a dysfunctional family struggling to keep their farm from financial ruin, until a bizarre twist of fate changes their lives forever. Swank will play Helms' wife, Laura Murphy, while Harris will play the family patriarch Nathaniel Cobb. Inarritu (Babel) created the drama and will direct the first two episodes of the entry, which he co-created with Alexander Dinelaris Jr., Nicolas Giacobone and Armando Bo. They previously collaborated on Inarritu's latest film Birdman, with One Percent reuniting the Oscar nominee with Babel's MRC.
The One Percent marks MRC's third straight-to-series order -- and second at Starz -- joining Seth MacFarlane comedy Blunt Talk, starring Patrick Stewart. The banner also has drama pilot Knifeman in the works at AMC.

The premise doesn't really sounds that appealing but this got me hooked solely on that Iñárritu's a fantastic director that's taking the plunge to the TV landscape, got some interesting mix of actors to boot too. I like that Albrecht is continuing as to push Starz to have its own distinctive identity.
