Alex Cross

Exactly this will get people talking taking notice a good peformance out of nowhere will do good things for his career I imagine.

watching elba play luther he was perfect for a younger cross.im not feeling tyler perry in the role i say this will bomb instead of being a potential franchise.perry just to known for comedic roles.

My opinion on Tyler Perry has always been this:

- I do think he's very popular within the African American community (box office for movies he's written, directed, and starred in have proven this). I do think though that Perry gets mixed reviews from Black Hollywood. I say mixed because while a lot of C and D-List Black Actors want to work with him (and vice versa), a majority of the A and B List Black Actors have no desire whatsoever to work with him. And we already know how Spike Lee feels about him.

Of course a lot of that has to do with the level that Black Actor is in Hollywood. The A and B list are the ones we see in movies a lot, the ones who are the big names or names that are familiar to a majority of the movie going audience. They don't need Tyler Perry and I don't know what any of their opinions are on any of his films (although I doubt it's positive). The C and D List are the ones we see in movies a lot, but the general public doesn't know their names or ones that we have not seen in a while who may be in need of a comeback. Tyler Perry gets their names out there. Having said that though, I still believe that Eddie Murphy needs to work with Tyler Perry for a few films. Perry could make him relevant again.

I don't know how well this film will do, because it's not something that Tyler wrote or directed himself. He's just starring in it. I am stunned at Matthew Fox's transformation though.

And look at all the notice these pictures have gotten him already. There's nothing wrong with a guy taking pride in his work.

Notice where? This movie is very unlikely to be a big hit or be that well recieved.

All over the internet, Matthew Fox disappears from cinema for four years, his first role back has every major news site going gaga over his appearance.

At least he's got something going now besides beating up bus drivers and collecting DUI's. I hope he doesn't continue down that road.

could be good, i'll wait for a trailer. I like that Tyler Perry is going out of his box for this one and I hope he succeeds. Theres a picture of Matthew Fox from the movie out there and he looks downright scary.

I just can't take it seriously looking at TP in that poster lol.

It's pretty laughable.

And watching Luther and revelling in how incredible the show is, the fact Elba didn't end up playing Cross is a goddamn shame.

I'm willing to give Tyler Perry a shot, to see if he can act the part. I'm not enthused by the plain-Jane title 'Alex Cross'. Didn't they learn anything from 'John Carter'?

Also, Idris Elba's name is still in the thread title. When will that get fixed?

That tagline is so bad it's good. There's no way they looked at that and were like "alright, that's a legitimately good tagline." Surely they must just be dicking around.

As for Perry....... eh. He's more intimidating in Madea drag. He just doesn't stand a chance against manorexic, skin-headed psychopath Fox.

I will give it to Perry because physically he's a big dude. In a one on one fight, you'd have to work to put him down even if he didn't know how to fight. That's why he's believable intimidation wise.

________ _______ is a comedian, he can't play this role.

Insert a name above -

Tyler Perry
Michael Keaton
Robin Williams

I'm not saying he can't do it, I'm just saying it would be much more intimidating in drag. :o

But I think it was Idris Elba's name being in the thread title for a year after we'd gotten word that it was going to be Perry that spoiled the mood a bit. It's like being promised prime rib only to be rewarded with a piece of beef jerky.

idris just has a better more bad ass look

idris looks like a bad ass not to be messed with

tyler looks like carl winslow

I think some of the detractors will be silenced by that trailer, but because it's Perry, they'll feel obligated to say it sucks.

Needs more Madea-drag and Jackfaces. :o

Not bad, though.

Tyler Perry definitely looks like the weak link in that trailer. He has no emotion in his voice or his facial expressions. He just looks like he's there.

I think Will Smith could have owned that role. But...he costs too much.
