Alex Proyas to Direct Paradise Lost

Awsome pic of lucifer can't wait for this one. Always wanted a movie of fallen angels
 
So I finally watched Alex Proyas' "Knowing" the other day.

My interest in this has dropped off significantly.
 
I'm not the most religious person but I wonder what Christians think of paradise Lost?

I think, for the most part, it depends on if they actually read it or not. If they are under the idea that Satan is 'the hero' in the story, like many interpret it nowadays, they probably don't care for it. But if they actually take the time to read it and see that's really not what the poem is trying to convey, they'll probably like it. It was written and intended as a Christian epic, after all.
 
Walker should be able to swing this one, as he gets pretty intense in his Broadway roles. Between this and Abe Lincoln Vamp Slayer he's on the ball.
 
I actually didnt like Dark City. Wasnt very interesting to me and the "reveal'/"twist" about the city was bad IMO.

But I love the Crow and I enjoy I, Robot. And the Paradise Lost story is interesting and I like Bradley Cooper so this project seems good to me
 
I'm not a huge fan of it either, but it is 1 of his better movies, imo.

Of course you love The Crow. I think it's a bannable offence to not like it here.

Have you seen Garage Days? That's funny.

Seen both but you have to admit it's troublesome when a director hasn't made a good movie in 11 years.

And it's not like Knowing was just mediocre. It was mind-numbingly awful. It was a sh** sandwich combo with a side of vomit slaw and a large phlegmshake.

What was so bad about it? I didn't think it was great, but I thought it was entertaining. Then again, I like movies dealing with the theorys/conspiracies that aliens have visited us in the past.

Well, for starters, I found all the stuff with the time capsule to be really piss-poor in its execution. The concept wasn't bad, but the way they carried it out... starting out in this goofy 1950s utopia where all the students act like robots and then pulling it out in the present day and RANDOMLY passing out the contents to a bunch of annoying brats... just seemed really stupid to me.

The movie did pick up a bit after that but it's as if they deliberately wrote Cage's character to be the most impractical idiot in the world. I've never seen a hero character act so blatantly stupid in so many situations. "Gee, there are creepy people that keep showing up that apparently want to steal the children! I know! Let's LEAVE THEM ALONE IN THE CAR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WOODS while we, the adults, go into the old house for half and hour and don't check up on them until they start screaming. Oh no! The creepy men showed up! I guess I should just ABANDON everyone to chase him a mile into the forest!" Stuff like that really annoys me in movies. Once or twice is okay, but Cage was CONSTANTLY doing things like that throughout the entire movie.

Then you have the alien thing. I kinda figured early on that they might be aliens, but given the overall premise of the movie, that sort of felt like a copout at the end because they simply couldn't think of a better reason why these numbers could predict disasters. And that was really the only interesting part of the story. But if you can't come up with a better reason for something like that besides "aliens know everything and are all powerful" then it probably wasn't that great of an idea to begin with. Watching the world get destroyed (even if the CGI was weak) was sorta cool, but I still thought the ending was dumb, especially since the aliens' grand scheme apparently was just to kidnap a handful of kids too young to survive on their own and drop them off in the middle of a Salvadore Dali painting to fend for themselves. Though I did have a laugh because it was Nick Cage sending little Kal-El away from his dying planet.

And maybe I'm just old fashioned, but I tend to get annoyed by the old (almost) everyone dies ending unless it's executed really well. It's a tricky thing to pull off. But, oh, thank you inspiring movie for letting me know that we have nothing to fear after we all burn to death in a huge fireball.

There were other things that bugged me... some of the acting and the effects. Although I think the part at the end where Nick is crying his eyes out was great because I think the real reason he was sobbing was because he had to appear in Knowing. But I guess that's what happens when you owe money on taxes after buying a castle in Germany and an underground pyramid to use as your tomb someday.
 
Really looking forward to this a lot.

I wanted to read the book, but didn't realize it was a 500 page old English poem. Really not my sorta thing, although i did find a modern english version of the book which i'll be checking out.

I always thought the whole Satan falls/Adam and Eve storyline would make an epic fantasy flick.

500 pages? It's not even remotely that long from what I recall. Were you looking at a critical edition by chance? Because that probably includes all of the essays and criticisms that's included like my Norton edition. I don't think the poem itself is longer than 200 pages. I'll have to look to be sure, but it's not all that long.

It was certainly a good movie but it never clicked with me the way it did for so many other people. Still, it was one of those films that spoke to a generation, so that is really saying something. And the visuals were pretty stunning.

Dark City though... I do love that movie. Jennifer Connelly... just, wow. She always looks good but in that movie, she reach a whole other level of hotness.
 
Hounsou is always a good watch, think he will be brilliant as the Angel Of Death though, great casting.
 
I cant wait for this movie and im really surprised its getting made because the subject matter. Its bound to get some people angry but what studio is behind this movie? I hate to use this word but is seems ambitious.

I'm Christian and this is my most anticipated movie I think if you believe in Jesus than you believe theres a devil. I for one would like to see his fall from heaven. Also always wanted to see a movie on the war in heaven.
