All Not Quiet On the Sequel Front

Well, even a very well-reknowned academic who does film review and analysis said it. "I like some movies that, deep down, I know are awful."

That's what I'll be doing while seeing Zoom. But I agree about your second part where actually liking them despite their badness, which is why I can't see how the Catwoman movie gained some fans.

That's all well and good for you and fans who will lovingly sit through what will ultimately be a retread of Donner/Lester's Superman II. But some of us would rather be azamed by something that does more than merely remind us of films long passed. That's all Superman Returns did for me, aside from the advanced effects. And about the only major new element added to the movie Superman mythos just raises countless questions that the film makes zero attempt to answer. You can justify it and say, "Oh, they'll explain it in the sequel" all you want, but the film shouldn't have that mentality. It should offer some sense of closure, no matter how likely a sequel may be.

I really don't want Zod in a SR sequel. I really do not like Superman 2... at all. Maybe Donner's cut of it will be better, but we'll see. I'd much rather see a villain we haven't seen on the big screen... Doomsday, Brainiac, Metallo, post-Crisis Luthor...
