Alright let's talk about tonight's ep "Pariah"

Wow....

How Clark can be friends with anyone in that town is amazing...

I love that word.. it was used in a fairly recent movie.. "Dodgeball" maybe? We use it at work all the time. I'll spare you the details of how.
It was Elf he was in a publc restroom and said "These toliets are Ginormaus!" That movie is freak'n hysterical :D

I also have an issue with her being 'surprised' by sand-boy and not teleporting away, but I can chalk it up as her just being sloppy since she isn't a professional super-hero. She basically made a bone-headed movie and actual approached him, allowing him to gag her.

I think a more elegant solution is to have her still be wearing the bracelet at that moment where she sees him, he starts telling her he's looking for evidence to frame her, she realizes she is in danger, realizes she cannot teleport away, she starts to fiddle with her cuff area trying to get the bracelet off, he sees this, questions her, then chases her down and gags her.

One thing that keeps rolling around in my head though, is she doesn't seem to be an instant teleporter, ie there is a delay from when she dissapears to when she reappears. Maybe in between she is in this ethereal bodiless form, and maybe she actually escaped from her body before she died, meaning she might be floating around disembodied, which, this show being based on a comic book, could lead to a myriad of things.

Another thing that bugged me, but I hope recitifies itself in the coming episodes, is that Clark really didn't seem that worried or concerned that Alicia called him crying that she was in a runaway car and she needs saving, then when he gets there, the car is empty. He just seems to go, 'hrm, no biggie' and takes off. I would imagine he'd use his x-ray vision or something to look around to see if anybody was around, and he would have easily found Alicia and Chloe.

I hope he slowly starts to mull this over and puts two and two together and he himself, as a future reporter would do, figure out that Chloe knows his secret. He should be able to figure out Alicia set him up with that car stunt, their conversation earlier was just about him telling about his secret, which she left quite dissapointed. Also, I sense, as shown at the end of the episode with Chloe tearing down the wall of weird, that Chloe will change dramatically, which will be noticed by Clark. Then hopefully he will realise Alicia let Chloe in on his secret with the car stunt.

Prime I can almost picture the writers doing something like that with Alicia like she tried to teleport out but couldnt fully but herspirit or w/e is out there & she needs a new body that worries me for a future episode

I just finished watching it at last.

It was on ok episode, you guys kind of gave me the idea that it was the best yet or something but I don't know... something about the pace of this episode sucked.

Does everyone in Smallville have a VERY bad case of short-term memory loss? She calls from the car crying and than after he catches the car and leaves everything is normal like it didn't happen... Also the Noooooooooooo everyone was hyping about was ok but damn you guys exaggerate too much comparing it to that of Christopher reeves in the movie. Tom Welling isn't and will never be a good actor, just like the whole Friends cast and many other TV stars.

I was also disappointed with the way they killed off Alicia, it just was too fast and felt like they wanted to get rid of her as soon as possible… Clark says how he loved her when he fights that dude… well when he was with her it never looked like he loved her, the guy was scared to even touch her, is Clark Kent gay or something? I don’t get it seriously, if that is love than damn.

I guess I shouldn’t criticize this too much after all it IS just a TV show but things like that can piss you off in the long run when you have been watching it for so long.

Now to the positive, it was still an enjoyable and much better than the last few episodes. The best bit was obviously him catching the car and Chloe finding out at last. I really can’t think of anything much else.

I realized though that there is hardly any Lex/Clark moments together anymore… que pasa? They used to be the best bits in series 1, 2 and 3 to me, ah well.

I'd give this episode a 3/5 probably, sorry for being fussy but I'm annoyed at some of the stuff they do sometimes.

THAT was it! I saw both of those movies around the same time. Thanks, Lara. :)

Thats an excellent point, I was gonna bring this up earlier. That would've made her seem more "noble" and wouldve given Clark a MASSIVE guilt trip because he was the one who wanted her to wear it ,and it wouldve cost her her life....

It's truely ashame that you already have that decided in your head ahead of time, the guy isnt Tom Hanks yet but he's leaps and bounds ahead of where he was in Season 1.

*ahem*.. I did bring that point up earlier.. post #116. ;)
The guilt would have been horrible for Clark if he had made her wear the bracelet again. I'm kind of glad they didn't go that way with it, that may have been laying the guillt on a leettle bit thick.

I think this was one of Welling's best performances though, way better than his tear jerking mope last week.

You know what, I think I was being a bit harsh yesterday. I just watched the episode again and it was a much better viewing, I suppose watching something at 3 am in the morning and 12 pm in the afternoon is a big difference lol I was probably just tired and moody. Tom Welling did pretty good, much better than his earlier acting as some of the people said. I think though it's obvious that the highlight of this episode is Chloe finding out and what she might do or will do with that information in the coming episodes.

why do so many people watch American Idol? What am I missing? Lost, I can understand but AI is just pure pop crap. What is the attraction?
Oh well, good to see Smallville taking down one of the Big Nets shows...

I watch it rarely for a few laughs. There are amazing cases of bad singing and performing it's really funny.

I think her embracing her power and demanding acceptance instead of hiding is one piece of his becoming Superman. I'm glad she stayed true to her convictions that they shouldn't have to hide. I think her putting on the bracelet would have taken away from her character and what she was trying to teach Clark.

no kidding, that Noooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!! scene should have been the first thing that was edited out of the episode. At least Welling is trying to act well

And we all know how that TV star Tom "Bosom Buddies" Hanks' career turned out. Not to mention Denzel "St. Elsewhere" Washington, Leonardo "Growing Pains" DiCaprio, Ben "Ben Stiller Show" Stiller, Helen "Mad About You" Hunt, Bruce "Moonlighting" Willis, Will "Fresh Price" Smith, Johhny "21 Jump Street" Depp, Jamie "In Living Color" Foxx, etc. Yeah, none of those TV stars are movie stars.

You missed the point, there is a difference between being a movie star and a good actor. Ben Affleck is a movie star, is he a good actor?

Tom Welling is what now, in his 30’s? Or nearly there? He still has no charisma, emotion or anything else in his acting. Trust me on this he’ll never be a ‘movie star’ or even a good actor. I’ll be the first to eat my words if he does but I think any hardcore movie fan can see that he can’t act for ****.

great, and again, here we go with the "hardcore fan" card as justification for an opinion. Please, get over yourself.

The former tv stars I listed are not only movie stars but brilliant actors.
Tom Hanks and Denzel are 2-time Oscar winners, Helen Hunt has an Oscar and more Emmys than god, Leo, Jamie Foxx, Johnny Depp and Will Smith are Oscar-nominated actors. My point is quality acting is subjective. But it would be hard to argue that because someone's on TV, that negates their acting ability. I think some people who consider themselves "hardcore fans" probably enjoy Mr. Welling's acting.

It still doesn't change the fact that he isn't a good actor (yet anyways), they can enjoy all they want but he hasn't shown any ability that he can pull off a movie as a leading role or be a big movie star like the ones you mentioned. I think it’s pointless sometimes to argue with people who can’t handle criticism over something/someone they like too so I’ll stop and let everyone get along with it (This wasn't directed at you lokmon) ;).

Perhaps people could "handle criticism" better if you gave actual reasons as to why disliked the guy so much, other than just stating that he's a "**** actor" or that "any hardcore movie fan can see he sucks"...Usually when you say to people "Well I'm not gonna argue with you, but if you had half a brain you could plainly see it" people arent going to respond all too well to you

You're forgetting an important element: this is only your opinion. Plenty of people disagree with you. Your opinion is perfectly valid, but likewise different opinions are perfectly valid too.

So please, stop behaving as though you speak for everyone when, y'know, you don't.

Aww... never apologize for having your own opinion. If we ran everyone out who had a different opinion, we'd be.. well, some *other* board. ;)

I do have to wonder if we watched the same ep though.
:D

Yeah! Thank you. I guess I am just experiencing shell shock from the "other" board.

I wish I would have "seen" the same show you did because it's still my favorite show and I love reading all the positive responses to the show anyway. And the NEW "What should be done about the Tom Welling factor" thread on the Supes Movie board made me giggle. So it's been a good week.

Oops sorry. It's the public perception on casting thread. Everyone agrees that we just must to something to get this TW out of people's heads. Brainwashing them with over promotion of the movie seems to be an option.
