AMC's Hell on Wheels

for the most part, it was a good episode for a premiere. the beginning and the end were the best parts. the middle parts of the episode kind of lost me and it was kind of boring in certain scenes, though i loved the scene when the Indians attacked the camp.

i'll definately keep on watching because i love Westerns and i have a feeling that future episodes will really pick up the pace

It's hard to compare shows like Spartacus and The Walking Dead. The stories are told in totally different ways and the focus of the subject matter is incomparable.

The Walking Dead is not an action packed show and deals with the psychology of humans in a post-apocalyptic world.

Spartacus is more of an action show with lots of blood, gore, nudity, and political intrigue.

Both shows are fantastic in their own way.

I never get why people have a hard time comparing shows/music/books/etc about different topics. Whichever brought you more enjoyment, held your attention longer, and gave you more overall pleasure is the "better" choice in your eyes.

Apples > Oranges

Everyone knows oranges are the better option. :o

Unless the apples are combined with Peanut Butter, then they're superior by far.

I just watched the pilot, and I will be tuning in indefinitely

I really don't get the mixed reaction . I thought it was excellent . The show may end up being better than Walking Dead if they can substain the quality of the pilot

Yeah, I wasn't looking for an indepth analysis of each show, just trying to understand if it brought similar enjoyment as spartacus and walking dead. (as I like both those shows and YJ at the moment only shows I watch.) I was hoping there was a like minded individual :). Looks like i'll check it out! Thanks guys!

I caught about half of the pilot and it's pretty entertaining so far...

Colm Meaney is such a SOB...

To be honest, Spartacus ranks first for me followed by The Walking Dead and then Hell on Wheels. This is based purely on the enjoyment factor for the pilot episode.

After finishing the pilot, I can honestly say that I will be monitoring this show very closely.. :D

This show had better not keep Common from recording a new album.

He has a new one coming out next month (though if the show keeps him from recording albums as crappy as that last one...that's a good thing).

I just enjoyed O'brian from TNG hamming it up. lol

AMC has done a tremendous job hyping up and promoting their new shows...I had little interest in watching The Killing, The Walking Dead, or Hell on Wheels, but they somehow find a way to persuade you to watch....on the same network with Breaking Bad and Mad Men, it's kinda hard to turn a new show down!

Finally got to see this today. Wow, AMC has done it again! I love this show. Colm Meaney steals every scene he's in (as usual) and plays an awesome arrogant prick. Anson Mount is perfect as the mysterious hero out for blood, Common is excellent as the bitter ex-slave and Dominique McElligott does a standout job as the loving wife driven to the edge. Man, that arrow-in-the-neck scene was painful to watch.

Definitely tuning in next week.

Finally caught the premiere, not bad, the lead seems perfectly cast and I think it has the potential to grow.

That scene reminded me of the scene in Saving Private Ryan when the two soldiers are fighting over the knife.

Pretty good second episode. Loved the beginning when he's going around putting arrows in people. :D

Does anyone else keep thinking about Red Dead Redemption while watching this show? If they were to make a sequel I think one based around the rail road would be a pretty good move.

much better episode tonite. i like the way these last 2 episodes have been building up. this leads me to believe that the last couple of episodes of the season are going to insane.

the guy playing the priest/reverend looked very familiar, so i looked him up on Imdb. then it hit me when i knew where he was from - Robocop 2! he played the villain Cain. thought that was pretty cool.

he was also frankenstein's monster on the monster squad, and the cereal killer in last action hero.

Monster Squad! That's where I recognized him from. I was trying to figure it out on my own and it was driving me nuts.

So did anyone else get the vibe that the Irish brothers are plotting to kill the Swed?

Episode 2 was great. The Swede is a very interesting character and I like the way the characters in this show interact. Far better dialogue than in the hour preceding this show every Sunday.
