AMC's Hell on Wheels

...Does Common actually get to do anything? And I hope his character isn't constantly subjected to racial slurs..

Given the time period, it would be strange if he wasn't.

Another great episode this week. The end had me yelling "WTF!" at my screen, haha.

Damn, season finale came too soon for me. I think I'm going to have to play some Red Dead Redemption to get my western fix.

The Indian battle was pretty well done, loved the contrast between the music and the violence. Toole showing up though after miraculously surviving being shot in the mouth was a big WTF, but I liked the guys character. I hope he becomes a sort of underling to Elam. I always thought the two were an interesting contrast after he said that "The Irish are the n****** of Europe." I can't imagine Buchanan is going to flee Hell on Wheels, something is going to go down.

The next episode is the season finale.

That ending.... Holy ****....

Was that Arcade Fire during the start of the episode?

No, it was Mumford and Sons. It's great, because when I saw the title name for the episode, "Timshel," I immediately thought of their song of the same name. Little did I know the opening sequence was essentially a music video for it, haha.

That opening sequence was f***ing amazing. It was so brutal and so emotional at the same time. And that last scene... DAMN. I literally jumped out of my seat and screamed "WHOOOAAA!!" like Keanu Reeves on his best day.

This show is perfect. Can't wait to see the season finale. I hope they don't kill the Swede. He's too creepy and twisted and awesome to be a one-season villain.

It looks like the Swede gets tarred which causes severe life threatening injuries. If he doesn't die he will be extremely scarred.

Yeah, that is pretty nasty. 'Course, he wasn't the prettiest guy to begin with.

If they don't kill the Swede he's coming to come back with one hell of a vengeance next season.

All caught up! Damn this show just gets better and better. I've really enjoyed the development of Elam and Durand, while Bohannan remains TV's coolest and most interesting new badass, the way he thrashed the Swede was relentless.

Miss Lily Bell! :hrt: Durant's play to move Bohannan out of the picture was pretty obvious and I'm glad Bohannan saw straight through it, I like that Durant is not an out and out bad guy as such, he's more complex than that.

The beginning and ending of episode 9 was classic stuff, the slow motion battle was perfectly edited bar one shot and managed to be emotional, visceral and yet stylish all at once.....As for the ending, well that dude just lost his head. :oldrazz:

This show was off to a slow start, but it picked up half way through. They seem to be putting Bohannan's revenge plot on the backburner....

new season won't start until Fall??

crap

Damn that's a hell of a wait and then if the world ends I wont be able to finish the season! Lame.

Anyways, awesome finale. I really felt bad for Bohannon when he
killed that innocent soldier. His moral code wouldn't allow him to outright kill someone like the Swede and then he goes and strangles an innocent man because he was blinded by his own vengeance. It'll be interesting to see if that changes his mission next season. Though I have no idea how he's going to find the real sergeant now that anyone who would know is dead.

The very best part of the episode, for me at least, was hearing the Preacher go full on dark side with his "Give in to the hate" line. The whole scene was pretty unsettling and dark, I almost expected a demon to appear.

Wow the last 3 episodes of this show absolutely kicked ass!!

"Give in to the hate!"

Preacher's crazy.

Wonder what hes going to do when he finds out Joseph had sex with his daughter.

I was really hoping Bohannon wouldnt go through with killing the guy. Too bad.

Elam was a major *****e to his friends. Hope he pulls his head out of his ass.

Dominique, the actress that plays Lily is freaking beautiful. Damn, its hard to pay attention to a scene when shes in it.

Great finale, Bohannan is going to be hunted in the second season by the look of things, I imagine the Swede will lead the bounty hunters.

Speaking of the Swede, he's creepy as hell but he's had his ass handed to him twice now, I wonder what the payback will be.

I think next season Elam will be the new walking boss as the freedom continues to make it difficult for him to be true to himself, stuck between where he came from and where he wants to go.

The scene's with Bohannan and Lilly, and Bohannan and the preacher were great and played off the flashback of him finding his wife and made him killing the wrong man even more tragic.

Durant is such a magnificent *****ebag, from his speech to the hookers to the way he lusts after Lily while knowing he can never be the man Bohannan is but that doesn't stop him manipulating events to get what will never truly be his, it's a classic dynamic.

Dominique, the actress that plays Lily is freaking beautiful. Damn, its hard to pay attention to a scene when shes in it.

Finally someone else in this thread notices :awesome:

Lol, hard not to notice.

I think the Swede's gonna go bounty hunting.

This shows' great. Gotta watch that finale again. The Preacher. So Crazy, haha.

Yeah, the Preacher's speech was classic. Such a great finale. Glad that the Swede didn't die... can't wait to see what they do with him next season. Given his twisted moral code and the fact that he once was (presumably) a good man, I wonder if he'll change next season. He looked very reflective towards the end there.

Also, very interested to see what will happen with Bohannon next season. Since the show centers all around the railroad, I'm guessing that even if they are hunting him at the beginning, it won't stay that way for long. Guess we'll see.

Easily my favorite new show this year. Thank God Justified comes back tonight because I need something Western-themed to tide me over for a while!

My favorite scene of the entire show so far was the opening of the finale. The sound design was just brilliant. Having the music playing, and no other sound except the creaking of the rope. chilling.

I felt bad for Bohannan, but also extremely frustrated with him. He's a smart guy, and clearly feels turmoil over killing people, so it was hard to watch him make that kind of mistake, even though of course it was obvious what would happen :csad:

Yeah, but he was in a blind rage. He thought he had the right man, and he nearly missed catching him again. And on top of that, when he was having second thoughts about following his "dark path" the one guy who might have talked him out of it pretty much told him to go on and keep killing people.

The only issue I had was, could that soldier have been any dumber? Some guy is out to kill you and he doesn't know what you look like. All he knows is that you are a soldier. So ya think, I dunno... you might want to change out of your uniform before you go running out into the open like that? Bohannon never would have noticed him if he just had a regular coat on.
