AMC's Rubicon - Sneak Peak June 13

Only seen North by Northwest from that list but it's a friggin Hitchcock film so it automatically wins.

Watched the full hour "sneak peek" after Mad Men last Sunday and tuned into the second episode last night. Loved it, this show's got me hooked.

Loved when Will went in on his team.

Calling Grant a snobbish piece of **** was totally called for.

Just watched the first two episodes and loved them. Everything was great across the board. I'm diggin' the music too.

Hasn't grabbed me like Breaking Bad/Mad Men but I'm still interested in the show.

Going to NYC next week so I've been looking at the city on Google Maps, lucked out on finding where the API building is along with the parking lot where David avoided the 13. The corner of Fletcher St and South St.

Mad Men took a long time to grab me in. It didn't get interesting for me until the second season. This show, however, had me in episode 1!

episode 1 was a little dry at first, kind of a slow burn, but as it progressed and then further with episode 2 i am intrigued and cannot wait for ep3 tomorrow, or really later today really...I need to go to sleep.

so watching the third episode, getting fairly interesting, this show is definitely a slow burn though

Yeah it certainly requires some patience and a certain type of viewer but the crumbs that they give us has me interested and not frustrated. Certainly the payoff has to be something good. A terrorist attack in the future?

Nah, I think that's too obvious. Didn't Will already figure out that conspiracy involves a secret fourth branch of US government?

I'm all caught up on this, the mystery is intriguing and I like the score, I don't even mind the snails pace, but God are the characters dull, Will Travers may be the most boring lead character ever, I hate the way he struggles to get a sentence, ANY sentence, out and how just about every scene he is in features an awkward silence moment, and the supporting cast are not much better as they evoke no emotion from me at all, they are just there.

It just seems that what has been told in 4 episodes could've been told in 2 or 3 with all the plots going on. The pilot was promising, a little slow but the show has been disappointing. I was in NYC last week and did come across the building where the exteriors of API are filmed and the #13 parking space. Lots of graffiti and garbage around the building. Hopefully something happens to liven things up but I think the show is a lost cause based on what Hunter said about the characters. The ratings have fallen each week after a promising premiere number after already being aired numerous times and being free online for weeks.

When you already have Mad Men and Breaking Bad on the channel you've got to bring something that keeps people hooked and have something unique about it as well. AMC seems to have learned from their mistake of having boring characters/slow plot (The Prisoner, Rubicon) with The Walking Dead, The Killing and potentially Hell on Wheels.

Last night's was much better as some questions were answered but more were asked. Is Kale working with Spengler or will he help Will? Will finally met Katherine, was curious how they would meet and hopefully they meet again soon as they both have information they need to share. I hope Ed comes back seeing his brain come alive made for a better show. Still committed to the show but its nowhere as good as the other AMC shows.

I just started the pilot episode, they usually don't give away the main characters big secret (Mad Men, Don Draper's past life) but they dived right into it with Rubicon.

Sunday's episode was more like it, more of what I was expecting. Shame it took 6 episodes to get things moving and dig deeper into the paranoia. I was watching on Tivo and had to leave for work but I didn't want to stop watching, they kept things interesting throughout the show. Hopefully its a sign things will pick up for the last half of the season.

Next week the FBI locks down API.

I hope it gets cancelled. Otherwise I'm going to torture myself by watching it every week, hoping against hope that it gets interesting. Come every Sunday I say to myself, "Okay Rubicon. I'm giving you one more chance. Impress me." And it fails me every time.

I'm not mad at you Rubicon. Just disappointed.

So any word on this show getting canned yet? :/

Any word on it's future probably won't be announced until after the season airs I would imagine.

The last 7 episodes will air but it's a toss up whether it will be back for another year. I could see AMC trying a second season that makes the show better but ultimately is canceled.

Disappointments:
The Prisoner (2009)
Rubicon

Exceeded Expectations:
Mad Men
Breaking Bad

Anticipating:
The Walking Dead
The Killing

The Prisoner was a disappointment? Didn't Ian McKellen get an Emmy nom for it?

He was the best thing in it next to the set design. It was a disappointment to me and most people who watched.

Its hard to do a remake of The Prisoner when so many shows, books, comics and movies have lifted things from The Prisoner. I did like their version of The Village, it worked. I didn't want it to be the exact same thing, others did but what they did with 6 hours was a disappointment considering it was a joint production with the United Kingdom's ITV and the talent involved. It had some good ideas but like Rubicon was just slow and a chore to finish episodes. If the show eliminated episodes 3/4 it would've been better.

There was an uptick in the ratings with last night's show so maybe the ratings can turn around for the show.
