AMC Picks Up Crime Thriller Television Series ‘The Killing’

I'll never understand that "thing" of people saying you can just skip episodes in a series? What? Every single thing has purpose, every episode even if the plot doesn't advance much will have character moments that you will miss if you skip those.

You skip episodes, you don't get the full experience and you sure as hell can't claim that you watched the entire series, it's like those people who say they watch some movies by fast forwarding them, what?

Well the first season had a lot of skip worthy episodes, if you ask me. There was that whole red herring with the teacher and all that that really bogged things down. The third season had none of that.

You still miss on character moments if you skip episodes, any episode. You don't get the full experience.

Depends on what is more important to you. But unless there is some major character development in an episode, you probably wouldn't miss out on much.

Isn't that the point of a red herring though? It's supposed to detract from the cops finding the real culprit. I mean, if a mystery only has one suspect, where's the mystery?

Anyway, finally got caught up on this show over the weekend. Loved season 3... I think it was better than the first two seasons overall. Peter Sarsgaard was incredible and should have gotten an Emmy nom for that performance. Also, Bex Taylor Klaus (Bullet) was amazing.
That scene when Holder opens the trunk to find her body was heartbreaking.
So glad to see that Netflix picked it up so we get a conclusion to the story.

I'm watching season 3 again right now. Seeing as how we're not getting a Blu-ray anytime soon, I broke down and bought the streaming from Amazon. It's the only season worth buying so far. I am hoping the season 4 comes up on Amazon later as well, I don't have the Netflix streaming and the promo looks great.

Dude, just get Netflix. It's cheap and it's worth it.

I have the Netflix dvds, just not the streaming. Was having trouble finding enough stuff to watch. :(

Netflix still has the DVD service? LOL I seriously thought they cancelled it.

Nope, still there. :) I get 2 blu-rays a week, mostly the new stuff right away.

I've been binge watching this show for the past week. Just finished season 2 and gonna take a mental and physical break before going into season 3. This is a very interesting show. I'm not sure the Larson case needed two seasons but damn, did it have one Heck of an emotional conclusion.

I feel like this is one of those shows that's meant to be binge watched. If you're watching these episodes individually week-to-week I could see it driving someone crazy. It takes its time, there's a lot of red-herrings and the lead character, Linden, can be a VERY frustrating character to watch sometimes. She's so damn introverted that's its hard to get a reading on her and root for her sometimes unlike Holder who brings much needed life in every scene he's in.

Ironically, my favorite episode of the series thus far had nothing to do with the Larson case; the episode where Linden loses Jack and is frantically trying to find him. That was such a great episode and a real tour-de-force for Linden and gave her some much needed character development. I want to see more of that in season 3 and the final season.

Season 3 is a much tidier season. No big tangents and some interesting new characters. It's the only season worth owning if you ask me. :)

The Killing - The Final Season - Behind the Scenes - Netflix

[YT]DN5Blq1HrQU[/YT]

Available from Friday.

So the final season is up. No one really talking about it.

I watched season 1 and 2. Skipped the third. Just started watching this one to see how it'll end

I don't have the streaming or I'd be watching this. :( Is it any good so far?

Man, Linden is ****ed up. It seems like shes going to break eventually from the pressure.

I wish Netflix would let you buy the episodes from Amazon like the other networks do. :(

Good luck considering season 4 directly follows season 3.

Also, season 3 is the best season.

Really boneheaded move to skip it.

I knew what happened in the third before going into it.

But for the actual review. It's an okay season. It's kind of like the rest of the show. COuldve been better. I still didnt like Linden. None of the characters were all that interesting. Joan Allen was really good though. I felt that by having two major storylines/crimes happening to Linden and Holder made the season kind of uneven.

The murder was pretty predictable. I wouldve forgiven that if I liked any of the characters other than Holder. It also was pretty boring.

I will give the series credit for ending in a satisfying way. I find more shows have crappy endings nowadays, but The Killing isnt one of them. It didnt betray what the show was like before, it tied everything up, and it even had a cool cameo.

If you liked all the other seasons. You'll like this. I was meh on this season and this series as a whole. Vulture summed in up with this headline: "I Spent 4 Seasons Waiting for The Killing to Be Great. It Didn’t Happen."

5/10 for the season and from what Ive seen of the show

yeah S3 was a great season.

Started watching S4 today, it feels weird seeing the show so...bright and clear.

Just finished season 4, It's a shame it's ending, i feel the netflix format of 6 episodes per season would've been perfect for it. I felt it was a strong final chapter, the ending was bittersweet. Gonna miss it.

Very satisfying finale season for the show. It was hard at times watching everything unravel for Linden and Holder as they started to crack in ugly ways like real people do under the pressure, but I like the way things played out for them in the end, even if the epilogue was unexpected.

The central case of the season is really intriguing and pretty disturbing, being on Netflix they pushed things further than in the AMC seasons. The only problem I had with it was that they didn't really solve it as much as it unspooled for them and it could have used a little more clearing up. Joan Allen was excellent as the head of the military cadet training school, this was not Michael Bay's military!

Seattle once again is shot beautifully as a rain drenched, atmosphere inducing character all of it's own, moody and foreboding.

If you enjoyed the prior seasons and are invested in Holder and Linden I can't imagine not enjoying this final season following these characters to the end of their journey's.

The final season was a crazy ride that was a fitting end to one of my favorites. Holder and Linden were under extreme pressure from family, work and the conclusion of season 3. Like someone else mentioned it was tough seeing them crack up under the pressure till it hits a boiling point in episode 6. Loved seeing all the call backs to previous season Jack, the Mayor, Callie's Mom and of course Bullets grave. The only people we didn't see was the Larsons.
