The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Andrew Garfield IS Spider-Man!

I think that it's really unfortunate that Andrew is so old. I mean it didn't work out the first time when they hired 25/26 year old Tobey Maguire to play Spider-Man, how is it any different hiring 27 year old Andrew to play him? Not just the fans but the studio themselves thought Tobey looked too old to be Peter in SM3, perhaps part of the reason they pulled the plug on SM4.

I mean Andrew doesn't look 17/18 anymore, he looks about 25+ and with Shailene Woodely looking extremely young for her age and being almost 10 years younger than him I wonder if it will look more like her father on the screen. It will give a total ick factor to their relationship in the sequel IMO.

Andrew looks a whole lot younger than Maguire did when he starred in the 2002 Spider-Man film.

He's good for several more flicks based on that pic. Once you put him college, probably by the third film or at the end of the sequel, he's gold until Spider-Man 6, not that they're going that far.

I don't know, he's gonna be 30 soon. And the girl they got to play Mary-Jane is in her 20s but, honestly looks 15-16. I think the age difference is going to look fairly obvious.

Andrew looks 20, 21, he doesnt look 25 +, that's not true. Look around you at what persons aged 20 look like. I know I'm 23 but I look 17, age doesnt mean much, and I see others who are 17 and look 20 +, it goes both ways.

He has an extremely youthful appearance, even more when he's shaved of course, but he doesnt look 25 +, come on.

Dana Dehaan is 27 and looks rather young as well. Most American tv shows and movies have twenty somethings playing teenagers. There are people who are 17/18 that look older than Garfield so I don't think its a big issue.

Alan Ruck played 17 year old Cameron in Ferris Bueller's Day Off when he was 29.

I think Peter graduates and starts college in ASM2 anyway.

If you think Andrew looks too old for Shailene, you should check out the male lead they just cast as Shailene's 17 year old love interest in "Divergent"! Theo James is 28 but looks like he's in his mid-30's. Andrew looks like a baby compared to him!

Oh, he doesn't look that bad. Just shave off that beard and presto, there's a youthful face. And okay, Garfield may not have the high school look anymore but he still has a pretty young looking face; he can pull it off. You guys are saying 'he's so old', like the poor guy is in his 40's or something. Sheesh!
