Now that is an awesome gif. Completely caught me by surprise.
Now that is an awesome gif. Completely caught me by surprise.

One of the major letdowns of the first film, for me, was Peter Parker's characterization. He just wasn't likeable. At points he was simply mean-spirited (his jabs at criminals while dressed as Spider-Man came off more as demeaning and patronizing than witty or clever). He seemed incredibly immature. His quickness to break his promise to Captain Stacy, and his disrespectful comment about "broken promises being the best kind" didn't do any favors to my opinion of the character.
I'm hoping (fingers crossed!) that Spidey will be a more likeable and sympathetic character this time around.
I damn near had to call an ambulance because of this.I wasn't the only one doing it. And for good reason, too. That s**t's horrible.
I mean, hell. Even if I was the only one doing it, I'd still be like,
"WTF is this s**t?!"

Uhh, I have no problem with him having his own style. My point is, his style is hip to the current times, and having a hairstyle like the one that the other guy mentioned would clash with that, and would look horrible on Andrew's Peter.
Hipster means wanting to be 'unique' and 'different' compared to the 'popular' clothing/music/whatever choices.
So.. the opposite of what you're saying.

I was suprised to find out Peter would still be at school. Do you guys think, at 29 Andrew can still pull off being a 17/18 year old? I assume he's playing 18 but it's a bit much to be playing someone 11 years younger than yourself. Thoughts?

When I say hipster, I mean a kid who's style is hip to the current times, very modern. Not those freaky looking kids you posted earlier. That's what Andrew's Peter is with his style, modern. Just because something is from Wal-Mart or Goodwill doesn't mean it can't have a modern look.
Reagrdless of anything you're saying, that doesn't make that hairstyle any better. Notice how no one has came out and agreed with you on the hairstyle(yet, at least)? It's because it's horrendous, and others know it as well.
It even looks bad on the most recent animated version of Peter.

He must've just seen a reflection of himself.
Peter is unique and different compared to popular music/whatever choices. That doesn't change the fact that his style is modern and he has stayed hip to what kids wear these days. So, no. Not the opposite of what I'm saying.![]()
I wasn't talking about those types of kids. Just how I use the word hip. People have used the term "hipster" for a while, long before they did for the type of hipster you think I'm talking about. And you're cool too,Jagua.as much as I like you PC, I gotta address this, it appears you are missusing the word "hipster" as a hipster is not someone who is hip, and a part of popular trends. In fact, it's generally the opposite. They stay away from popular trends and make themselves away from mainstream. I sort of like to think of hipsters similarly to Punk Rockers. (real punk rockers from the 70s and 80s. Not the fake garbage ones today)
also... no one uses 'hip' anymore to describe something that's 'in style'. At least, not if they don't want to embarrass themselves.
Where was Pete really Un-likable? Also, his reaction to criminals was mean spirited? Example?
The only time he was 'mean' was the car jacker. And he thought this may be his uncles killer.
I thought this was a very well developed Peter Parker. He went through a roller coaster in TASM.

Oh geez, I gotta say from reading these boards, the amount of overly sensitive people who found Peter to be mean, or a jerk is ridiculous. He was anything but those things, he was frustrated and lashing out at the fact his Uncle had been killed...people take that and deal with it in certain ways that may make them difficult. Also if the stuff he did/said to the criminals was harsh...yeesh, maybe you shouldnt be watching PG-13 movies yet.
seriously boggles my mind. He was never MEAN to aunt may, maybe he was difficult cause he didnt want her to worry and didnt want to explain what was going on for obvious reasons. The worst thing he did was tell her to please go to sleep so as not to worry about him.
What an assWith tears in his eyes no less.
