i will never, ever understand people getting angry at mj dating, saying it was "omgz so many guys1!!!" let's see: there was flash in high school, when she was 17. then harry when she was presumably 18. then john when she was 20. and then peter. 4 guys in 5 ish years doesn't seem like a lot. it's yet another excuse to shame her. i wanna see how many people will bash harry in tasm2, since dane (or marc, i don't remember exactly who) said he's a womanizer.

Well She was with Flash and then broke up.Then she was with Harry and she then Kissed Spider-man while being in a relationship with him and seems to be infatuated with Spidey
Then at the end of the movie she kissed Peter Parker and confesses her 'attraction' to him.
She came across as a really confused individual

Also its ironic how she got pissed in SM3 when Spidey kissed Gwen while being in a relationship with her while she did the exact same thing in SM1

This!

Because in addition to being selfish and whiny, Raimi's MJ was also a massive hypocrite.

Lol. Never realized that. So true.

I really hated that Raimi made MJ so needlessly infatuated with Spider-Man. Emma's comments that "Mary Jane fell in love with Spider-Man, whereas Gwen falls in love with Peter Parker" couldn't be further from the truth, but I think that's the impression that the Raimi films gave the general audience.

I think that Emma's comments are true in the sense that that is what Raimi wanted, but he did a poor job showing the "love" part. By contrast, Andrew and Emma ooze chemistry, in front and behind the camera as it turns out.

god forbid a 17-20 year-old being confused, right?

you know, i never see anyone criticising peter for kissing his best friend's girlfriend in the first movie and then kissing gwen when he was in a relationship in the 3rd; the fault is always mj's. why is that?

I didn't like the way Peter told Gwen his secret so soon. It felt kinda premature to me. Perhaps if she found out by accident, or Peter was in a situation where he wouldn't be able to have a relationship unless Gwen knew, then maybe. But no, it felt as though he was showing off to her to win points.

I loved that he "showed" her right away. I am so tired of the hero spending entire movie(s) moping about whether or not to tell his love interest the truth. I am also sick of the love interest who is too clueless to pick up on obvious hints. Webb disposed of both of the annoying tropes right away, and he did it in a cool way. I was literal saying "hell yeah" when that happened.

I think it's cool in the sense that we don't have to see moping and since it's Gwen, it's sort of okay that we get to see a relationship, since she'll be dead in either this movie or the next, but I just think when you compare it to Raimi's Spider-Man, it seems strange the way he tells her at the first given opportunity.

Not really, he clearly was attracted to her. I had no trouble buying that he would do that.

Yeah, I don't know why everyone is so up in arms about Peter revealing his secret identity to Gwen. In my opinion, it made perfect sense. Here was this outsider who had never had a girlfriend, at least that's what is presumed, before. He was gitty and excited.

It's something that he couldn't hide because he wanted to impress her.

I liked as it showed him sharing a secret with someone he feels close to.

Considering his age and the heavy burden of such a secret, I'd do the same.

Well it was definitely Peter's fault for kissing Gwen in the 3rd,that was poor writing imo

Not sure about the 1st though,he always liked MJ since he was a kid.

It wasn't actually Raimi's fault, the relationship could have been done better

MJ using John Jameson as rebound guy, agreeing to marry him when she clearly didn't love him, and then leaving him at the alter in front of his friends and family is infinitely worse than a meaningless kiss meant to excite crowd.

I don't know if anyone got around to talking about it, but Andrew's 30th was about a week ago. Congrats to him for being able to play a high schooler still. :P

In USM, after they broke up and MJ was on the verge of dating a new guy, she didn't. Because she still loved Peter. Obviously we didn't get that with Raimi's MJ.

And let's also not forget that MJ is/was an actress. So, should Peter get upset every time she is required to have a passionate kiss with an actor?

Edit: Happy Belated B-day to Andrew. I hope he rocks the s**t outta the role in ASM2.

^ true. I think he will. It's his second go-around. He can put his notes to action you know

I felt Garfield was better than Maguire. Always liked Maguire as PP/SM
