Ang Lee's 'Gemini Man' (Will Smith)

Saw it today and enjoyed it. Will Smith gives two excellent performances in the lead roles and the film is built around this dynamic. The plot is the kind of espionage story we've seen many times but it's well executed and the clone twist gives it a unique twist to the the formula.

Mary Elizabeth Winstead is also good in the main supporting role while Benedict Wong is an entertaining old war buddy's of Henry's. Clive Owen's Clay Verris is a fairly stock villain but there is a wrinkle in there as despite his ruthlessness he genuinely cares about Junior in his own warped way.

The CGI has some dodgy moments in the action sequences where the weight isn't quite there on Junior when he moves, it's slightly unnatural, but it works extremely well in the dramatic character scenes between Junior and Henry, and Junior and Clay. The tech isn't fully there yet for CGI humans but this is the best effort to date IMO.

The film isn't packed with action, as the bulk of the budget has clearly gone on the CGI tech and Will has a lot to do outside of the action, but the two big sequences are superbly shot, the villa shootout and bike chase sequence where Henry and Junior first face-off is stunning, with smooth, dynamic camerawork.

7.5/10

Saw it the other day at home.
It was better than I expected after reading the reviews.
Action was good and the camera work gave a real sense of speed during the motorbikes chase.
I think it would have looked good in theater with 3D.
Young CG Will Smith was not "perfect" in some scenes but overall it was really well done.
MEW stood on her own.

Compared to Hobbs&Shaw which have extravaganza action, I find Gemini Man better and less dumb.

I thought the movie was good but heck I didn't care joker much and ever one seems to love that movie.

Finally saw this some days ago, and I actually ended up liking it quite a bit, but it definitely has problems especially when it comes to the really shoddy CGI. I thought the action sequences were handled pretty well though and I loved the dynamic between Winstead, Wong and Smith in this.

I thought this was just ok, I would give it a 6/10. It's not horrible (Imo) like some people are saying, but this should've been a way more fun movie, instead of the "serious" action thriller we got.

Fake young Will Smith might have worked better if he was more like the characters in Bad Boys, MIB, etc. (But I guess you would have to change the whole movie to make that work)

I picked it up for cheap at a video store on blu ray and watched it for the first time. I have to say I really really liked it the FX used for young Will was amazing the only thing made it look cheesy was what the others said some of the one on action/ fight scenes but the just dialog scenes where it was young Will was what made me do various double takes 9 out of a 10.

another I thing I like that the others noticed that they changed his voice to make him sound like he did when he was in his 20s a very nice touch that was good

The dialogue in this movie was awful. Like when Will Smith asks Winstead's character if she sent a team to kill him. She says the following with a straight face totally deadpan and serois:

"No. I would've told you."

Did anyone read this script?
