Iron Man Animated Iron Man (Trailer)

well, I just picked up the DVD last night and watched it. Overall, it's pretty good. I'd say a 8/10.

I'm not that familiar with Iron Man, so I don't know how "on character" the movie was. ( is this supposed to be set in the regular Marvel universe, or the Ultimate universe? ).

I was a little disappointed that we didn't get to see much of the red-gold armor, or of the mandarin.

I was also a bit surprised at the amount of "veiled" nudity that was in the movie, especially the last sequence with Lei Mei........

well, I hope they make an Iron Man 2, where Tony can go toe-to-toe with a fully resurrected Mandarin........in the classic red-gold armor!

I'm glad you liked it, I enjoyed as well, just as a Iron Man fan, it's abit easier I guess for me to see the flaw's, but over all it was a good film.
I to was disappointed in not seeing more of the classic Red and Gold armor, and Mandarin, he was made out to be such a bad @$$, that it was disappointing to see him for less than 2 minutes.
I hope they make a Iron Man 2, he has plenty of good stories to tell, plus with it being open ended, it lent it's self to a sequal, lets keep our fingers crossed.

That's pretty much how I feel as well. Iron Man was well done but it seemed more like a TV pilot then a stand alone feature film. Either they coyly set up the live action feature film or they're testing the waters for a Iron Man TV animated series. Showing the various armors and not using them frustrated me. The DVD art is very misleading. "Classic" Iron Man in the red & golds only appears for a few moments in the feature and he never battles the Mandarin.

The Lei Mei reveal just puzzles me. She was a double agent working and heading the group who sought to stop the rise of the Mandarin? This makes no sense whatsoever.

Overall, I was disappointed in the movie. Like others have mentioned...

- No showdown with the Mandarin
- Limited armor and action
- Goofball plot
- Tony's health issues glossed over

I did LOVE the animation, the elementals and the armors themselves. Too bad it all never really came together.

i think they ARE planning a spinoff show

hmm....that would be cool.....kind of introduce Iron Man into the mainstream's collective conscience before the movie comes out.

btw....what happened to Lei Mei....did she die, or just pass out?

Marvel is making a animated series, but it's not scheduled for release until fall of 2008, well after the live action film, and there is a possible Iron Man 2 DVD, but again, most likely not until after the live action film is released, Marvel is planning two more DVD's, Dr. Strange and Teen Avengers, but no word on who's after them.

btw.....did anyone notice a "blur" effect when the characters moved on the screen?

while I was watching it, there were times where, when the characters moved, the animation seemed kind of blurry or fuzzy???? Like the first time Tony met with his board of directors, that's where I noticed it the most.....

i know it's kind of hard to explain...........perhaps it is due to my TV being rather old.......

Lei Mei wasnt running it till she killed Wu Shu Fu (cant recall his name). i dont think she was working to help them stop it but, to get close enough without suspicion to revive Mandarin. she gets into a leadership role..she can very easily get them eliminated. taking out any resistance ..except shellhead.. to revive the Mandarin. seems like your typical movie plot to me :)

the jade dragon leader's name was WONG -CHU the same as it was in the classic origin by stan lee wher he was a veitnamese warlord

WONG -CHU seemed aware of the role she would play when he rolled up her sleeve, exposed the fifth ring, the tattoo and reminded her of her duty. Unless it was just the tattoo that he was referring to? Why would the jade dragons have a hesitant woman as second in command otherwise?

ok.....i just watched IM again last night ( and the extra features )......and I'm sad to say I must knock down my score a bit. I'd give it a 7/10 instead of 8/10.

while the movie itself is still pretty good, one thing that I absolutely hate, in any form, is FALSE/MISLEADING advertisement!

and, I felt, there was some of that at work in this movie. Why?

well, for one, what does the cover PROUDLY display?? The RED AND GOLD armor.

what was one of the promotional pics that they used? RED AND GOLD Iron Man going head-to-head against the Mandarin!!

so, when one sees pictures like that, one would expect to see the classic Red / Gold armor play a prominent role.......and......a final climactic showdown between our Red / Gold hero and the villain.

the only problem is......we really saw none of that.

The classic armor was only used during one battle ( in the middle of the movie, mind you ).

And, Tony not only faced the Mandarin in his grey armor.....but he barely even FOUGHT the Mandarin. He spent most of the time getting his a@@ kicked by Lei Mei / Mandarin. And, it was Lei Mei who stopped the Mandarin, not IM.

Now, there's nothing wrong with that per se.......except that the promotional material portrayed a different scenario than what was actually in the movie......

again, the movie itself was pretty good.....I just feel a bit "cheated" by what they made us expect to in the movie vs. what we actually got....

oh yeah.. wong-chu. i suck at names :)

i think he was refering to her tattoo since i think they all had that.

watched it last night, I give it 5/10. The best part of the DVD was the preview for Doctor Strange.

Lackluster story, lackluster fights however the animation was vastly improved over the Avengers films. All in all this one is about even with Avengers 2 and trailing Avengers 1 in overall quality.

Marvel and Lionsgate sure are dropping the ball with these movies.

So far I'm really not impressed with these direct to DVD movies.

They aren't terrible, but they are pretty much mediocre to average.

Tony was never even once called Iron Man in the movie. It just seemed silly to me that the original armor wasn't even that. Tony already had like a million of them in his office. He needed Rhodey to distract security so he could get out the second time to find the ring in the volcano . . . but what about when he went to find the ring underwater?

The use of the Mandarin was poor IMHO. Instead of resurrecting him at the end, it should've been done at the beginning but he needs to find the rest of his rings or something, or just jettison the whole resurrection plot altogether.

Also, it's pretty clear they are cutting corners with the animation. It lacks consistency, and it looks herky/jerky in some places. The cel-shaded battle sequences were well done and decent enough though. But I don't watch these and think that they are high quality.

I think Marvel just needs to end the Lionsgate deal and talk to a company like Square Enix on basically doing something like ADVENT CHILDREN with Marvel characters.

The animation and stuff looked better than the previous UA movies. The mix of 2D and 3D type of stuff was just really annoying to watch. The story seemed pretty good, but ended too soon. They need to make these longer to get the story out better. Doctor Strange looks like it'll completely own this and the UA movies, though.

I found it to be MUCH better than the Ultimate Avengers movies.

That's great news, I'm a bit surprised it's doing so well, Direct to DVD's don't do well, I had noticed that at the 2 Target store's I went to over the weekend were both sold out of Iron Man DVD's, I asked one of the clerks about the DVD and he said it was hot, he himself bought one and he wasn't a fan of Iron Man, he enjoyed the movie which was a plus.
Maybe this will signal a sequal for our favorite Golden Avenger.

I went to my local video store to drop off a few flicks and 2 people in front of me were dropping off Iron Man that they had just rented. Where the hell are they marketing this DVD that it's getting so much attention. I'm happy.

I'm sure I already know the answer, but is the DVD good, should I buy it? I was considering checking it out (I loved the Ultimate Avengers) and wanted to get immersed in Iron Man well before the movie... so is it worth it? :D
