Well, let me tell ya that he is back is back in top form with a powerfully moving and intelligent drama/Thriller :heart:

I can't wait to see what he does with the Christ.

From what I read it's way different from The Passion since he will pick and choose whatever he feels is "reality based" from a skeptics point of view. He can call his character "Jesus" just like Martin Scorsese's character on "The Last Temptation", but IT'S NOT the One True Jesus of History and Christianity that will be portrayed. This sounds to me like this film is a Da Vinci Code offshoot.

so i guess every Jesus movie since the Passion will be a Passion wannabe right?

i read this a couple of days ago and as an agnostic, i have to say that i'm VERY very interested in seeing this film. i don't believe that Jesus is THE ONE true son of an angry, vengeful god and that he died for our sins...but i believe he was a very special human being that changed the world.

if Verhoeven does have actual scientific facts that show Jesus' true nature then i would love to learn of the truth rather than what a book that's been rewritten over and over and over again by many different people with biased points of view has to say about him.

as the famous saying goes...the truth will set you free.

I don't think he is picking or choosing. And I think it may not be the true Jesus of Christianity, but it is going to be the true historical Jesus. As in, what historical records from the time say about him.

I have a firm belief in Jesus, with that said I take Last Temptation of the Christ over Passion of hte Christ, any day of the week, and I look forward to this book, it's interesting to see different interpretations of Jesus
