Transformers Any news on what Decepticon FRENZY will transform into?

There's comic relief then there's pointlessly stupid.

Frenzy falls in the latter category.

The minions aren't used for comic relief here?

Mildly, but that's hardly the point. The fact that they could be used as something else doesn't exclude the fact that they were mostly used in comic situations. This doesn't happen much in the movie because their parts are small, but look at the only line Frenzy has: "Hey! Nobody calls Soundwave unkrozzomatic!" :whatever:

That's line is appropriate because of the way Soundwave talks. It's actually pretty funny. But that doesn't mean you can write off the minions as comedy relief.

They're still on a human scale so if Frenzy grabs Spike by the neck it's a serious situation. More so if Ravage has him cornered. No human can survive a panther with mechanical limbs and jaws.

and Rumble was far from comic relief. He almost caused the defeat of the autobots on many occasions.

Frenzy's designs aren't funny or cute. They're just embarrassing and stupid.

That's still a subjective perspective. You're entitled to your opinion, but you're just declaring a bunch of stuff, and explaining nothing.

I can go to the Louvre, point to Eugène Delacroix's Liberty guiding the people and say "That's stupid". It would hardly get me a job at Art in America magazine.

And I don't really think Lazerbeak or Ravage were comic relief anyways.

You are correct. But they didn't have any dialogue.

How would you go about proving Han Solo is better character than Jar Jar? I mean it's all subjective, right?

So? You said the minions were mostly comic relief. The great majority of the time they weren't comic relief.

That's why I said "mostly comic relief". A character can be funny and dangerous. One doesn't necessarily exclude the other.

You're right in saying Laserbeak and Ravage were not funny at all. They embodied the "silent and deadly spy/assassin" persona quite well, but Frenzy and Rumble were funny characters. Every time they opened their mouths you could expect some banter to ensue.

But we're missing the point here. Movie Frenzy's design is skeletal and a bit ridiculous (which makes it funny in my opinion), but can be very creepy depending on how he moves.

Well the design makes me embarassed to be a Transformer fan.

The character design is right up there with Jar Jar.

It's not funny or scary it's just pointlessly stupid.

To some degree, but a hard case can be made for Mr. Solo.

1) Han Solo isn't annoying, Jar Jar is. Some people may think the very opposite is true, but I mean come on. Jar Jar only said and did stupid things. All the time. And he is just too cartoonish, even for Star Wars.

2) Han Solo gets things done mostly with his abilities, Jar Jar only gets something right by sheer luck. This = bad writing, because there's only so much you can accomplish by luck without having a ridiculously stupid plot.

3) Han Solo is the embodiment of the anti-hero. He is cool, he is cunning, he isn't affraid of getting his hands dirty. Jar Jar is basically a ******ed jamaican.

And so on, and so forth.

Ok, bud. I won't keep discussing with someone who gives no arguments. This is going nowhere.

Well I think chickenFrenzy is a piss poor design for Transformers in the same way Jar Jar was inappropriate for Star Wars. If Bay isn't going to elevate the source material he should make the movie for the fans. If your not going to do either then what's the point of making a movie named Transformers?

The same old thing, over and over.

What do you mean by "elevating"? Making it better? Making it more serious?

I don't see how Frenzy's design could have a significant impact on the outcome of these expectations.

Btw, 90% of what made Jar Jar ridiculous were his lines (deliveries very much included) and the way he acted. In other words, it was mostly a bad script and acting judgment than a bad design judgment. Visually, the worst part of Jar Jar was the way he moved (face movement very much included). The basic design? Not that relevant.

No matter what Jar Jar spoke and moved like he was always going to be a horrible Star Wars character. The basic design was too silly just like chickenFrenzy.

When you elevate something you make it more sophisticated and compelling. The new Battlestar Galactica accomplished that. Turning Starscream and Frenzy into chickens? not so much.

Not necessarily. If he had a smaller part and wasn't so histerical and ******ed all the time, he could be a minor amusement.

There is no such thing as an intrinsically silly design. There are designs that are silly in the context, but in the context of Star Wars there are even sillier designs than Jar Jar's. Just look at that Mos Eisley cantina scene in Episode IV.

The chicken thing is funny but come on, let's be pragmatic here. A subtle resemblance to animalistic features doesn't qualify as "turning them into chickens". This is not open to opinion, it's a matter-of-fact thing. Just look at them. They are not chickens. They are humanoid robots. You people are crazy.

Besides, we've seen only renders and toys, we can't say for sure that the designs will ruin this movie, no matter how chicken-like they may seem to some people. And my bet is, they won't. The script will.

I say both the crappy designs and the cheesy script will ruin the movie.

and yes Starscream and Frenzy look alot more like chickens than their G1 counterparts. 1000% more.
