I mean I know some of us grew up with this show, but I’m binging it now and I’m just like...

First off, everything is so gloomy and angsty. I know it’s about them as high school kids but still get a grip. And then Rogue is annoying with her constant whining and ‘woe is me, I can’t touch anyone’ and it’s like they make a point to show her doing that in every other episode.

I will give them points for the great action scenes and giving a lot of the mutants a chance to shine, but the OG X-Men TAS is still superior.

Maybe it’s timing, I was the perfect age for when it came out.

Maybe if I watched it again I wouldn’t love it so much. I do remember nightcrawler was super cool on it though

It was alright.

Didn't like the high school setting. You had the X-Men and the Brotherhood with Senator Kelly as the school principal. lol

No X-Men animated series holds a candle to the 90's series. I can watch that whole series again. Can't say the same for Evolution.

There is indeed a lot of angst in it, but some episodes are top tier X-Men fun IMO.

Day of Reckoning, anyone? The reveal of mutants to the world, the mutants going against a Sentinel for the first time, Xavier revealed to be Mystique and having the mansion blown up, Wanda attempting to get revenge against Magneto, etc. So many epic things going on at once.

Dark Horizon? The X-Men and Magneto's Acolytes coming together to stop Apocalypse from being reawakened? Apocalypse's backstory?

And Ascension which is like two episodes of wall-to-wall action is pretty great.

I loved it when it came out. I was also in Middle-school at the time too so that may have influenced my opinion but still, thought it was pretty good. I have nostalgia for the show

I liked the high school setting but wasnt a fan of Storm being so old compared to everyone else.

I quite enjoyed it, and it got better as it went along. It is still my favorite versions of both Scarlet Witch and Apocalypse (who is positively god-like in this show). This is the Apocalypse we should have gotten in the Fox feature film from a couple of years ago.

I liked it way more than the 90's show honestly. It's definitely aged a lot better than it's predecessor and how it handled some of the X-Men's iconic stories makes it an enjoyable series for me. The later seasons were definitely superior to the earlier ones though.
