The sad thing is knowing that the new trilogy was screwed either way. Lucas' ideas were awful and the ones they went with were awful (ie Last Jedi).
As far as the end quote there about Force Awakens, Lucas was dead-on. It was straight up lifted from Episode 4 and they should be embarrassed about that. Tonally the same and point for point plot ripoff are not the same thing.
