I'm hoping someone in marketing and/or sales can help me out. My wife just got a new job with a marketing consultant firm. I'm still not entirely sure this isn't some kind of scam, but they haven't asked her for any money yet, it seems legit so far, and they're training and paying her fairly well, so...so far, so good, right? Basically, the job is to represent a particular Direct Seller, in this case, a major office supplies firm, and is a pseudo door to door direct marketing/sales thing, with some local travel involved and the requisite opportunities to become a trainer or advance to managing a "sales team". It's my understanding that they also go out of state every so often on sales trips. The word "client management" gets tossed around as well.
I've been trying to find out what I can about the company, but there's not much out there. They're a fairly small big company, and have a pretty slick little website, which isn't real exhaustive, but has SOME information. From the research I was able to do, I found that the company has a BBB rating of B-, with one resolved complaint in the last three years. The company is apparently expanding locally and seems to hire for various positions fairly often, just based on me seeing ads for it every so often, but they supposedly just hired my wife and another guy out of 200 applicants. Anyone ever heard of anything like this? Should I be concerned?
