Harris, Mortensen & Zellweger in Appaloosa
Source: Variety
August 7, 2007

Ed Harris, Viggo Mortensen and Renée Zellweger will topline the Western drama Appaloosa, with Harris directing from the screenplay he co-wrote with Robert Knott.

New Line is on board to distribute and Michael London is producing via his Groundswell Productions, which is co-financing the film. Harris and Knott also are producing. Filming is set to start Oct. 1 in New Mexico.

The project reteams Harris and Mortensen, who worked together on New Line's A History of Violence. The story is adapted from Robert B. Parker's novel of the same name, centered on a pair of friends hired to protect a lawless town suffering at the hands of a renegade rancher. The arrival of an attractive widow disrupts their plans.

Appaloosa is the second Western written by Parker, best known for suspense novels. He also wrote "Gunman's Rhapsody," a fictional version of the Wyatt Earp story.

Sounds a little like Cold Mountain, which I loved.

Viggo is the man, this will surely kick all kins of ass.

I know filming wrapped in September, but since there is no release date, a trailer might be a ways away.

Also, a few others have joined the cast:
Jeremy Irons
Lance Henriksen

Maybe it was December, I saw it at IMDB, I know its in Post

It's being released through New Line, so I think it will see the light of day sooner rather then later.

 Some gorgeous cinematography in those shots.

Sorry for the small pics....Ed Harris looks like he's done a great job with the direction....Viggo looks cool

Will they give Gino Vannelli a part in this film? ;)

Looking really good, and not just Viggo. :meow:

I love the look of this from the trailer, the story seems like a pretty simple oldschool western story but i like that, the relationship between Viggo and Harris' characters looks like it will be entertaining to watch.

Doesn't look as beautiful as Australia.

Agreed......I also loved the exchanges between them and Irons character. The music gave it a real epic feel to. Looks like a real solid film so far.

Australia looks good too but i always thaught Viggo would have been a more kick ass Wolverine
