Aquaman Respect

DC needs to release Aquaman into TPB all I've been able to find was the waterbear storyline. Are they going to continue making the rest of the series on TPB. I hope so, It was my first comic expericnece with Aquaman and I have fallen in love with the character.
I don't think they plan on realeasing trades but if you go to the right places you can find back issues in the dollar boxes, I did :D

Yeah, Aquaman's not exactly a major concern for TPBs at DC. It's sad, but he's just not popular enough to justify them.

The best Aquaman issues I ever read (IMO) are Aquaman 16-20 2004 'nuff said
"American Tidal"? I thought Arcudi's stuff was much better than Pfeiffer's, myself.

What issues? I may not even have it.

I've got bits and pieces 25,27, and 30-32, 40 (isn't 40 OYL?) not enough to get the whole story.

Sorry, but it's the best I can do on such short notice

this is the third one that is not as it seems but it does show that aquaman can make the surfus of his enchanted hand so its strong enough to be used like a normal one

I love this pic! I used to be a huge Aquaman fan before he lost his hand and started wearing a hook, then I stopped reading. What's going on with his handthese days???

Well these days Orin is a squidfaced mentor and Aquaman is some random guy who can breathe underwater, o and he teamed up with King Shark

His hand is now made of magical water from the Secret Sea. It boosts his telepathy and he can change its shape and density. It can also heal just about every injury short of actual death. Also, Aquaman's inability to stay out of contact with water for prolonged periods is now officially gone since the hand itself made of water.

That's kind of a freaky twist for a chartacter that wasn't really magic based. I wish they just stuck with the original character. Super strong, swims fast, breathes underwater, and talks to fish. That's plenty to work with.

Atlantis has a very magic-rich history. I was glad to finally see someone bridge the gap between Aquaman and his magic-infested kingdom.

I wonder if, when they do their next big retcon, if the water bearer hand will become a mark of being the true King of Atlantis, the hand being passed down from one king to the next via magic, that sort of thing.

That would be cool. It could be a spin on the Arthurian "once and future king" motif. Instead of one man returning from death to rule the kingdom, each generation sees one man get the Waterbearer hand as a symbol that he is the true king. It'd be like Atlantis' Excalibur.

Does anyone know where she is OYL, I would love to see her join the Titans!

Yeah, Lorena already was a Titan. I remember Busiek saying she would show up in Aquaman, but given how infrequently Aquaman seems to be coming out, that might not be for a long time. I liked her. I hope she's gotten some actual powers by the time we next see her, though.

Such as? Atlantis has always had a mystical background but thats not the same as magical. I'm unaware of any magical history to Atlantis.

Well, I don't know about how it was when you were a fan, but as far as I know, it was established that Atlantis was one of the major stations of Magic like the Rock of Eternity. I mean, this goes all the way back to that atlantian sorcorror who used to be rumored to be Powergirl's father.

It was ruled by sorcerers under Arion at one point. It was just recently taken over by sorcerers again under Hagen. The Obsidian Age is officially a part of Atlantis' ancient history now, and that involved the sorceress Gamemnae ruling over Atlantis. Orin's father Atlan was an ancient Atlantean sorcerer, too, and Garth was supposed to be fulfilling some magical Atlantean destiny by learning magic to become Tempest. Magic is all over Atlantis.

Good news for those who enjoyed Johns's Aquaman run during the New 52's inception:

Excellent news. Geoff Johns' run and Batman: the Brave and the Bold turned me into an Aquaman fan.

Mmh, still, it's not "magic all over Atlantis" as you put it. Some magic yes, some big magic yes, but like someonehere put it, it has amore a mystical vibe to it. Mystical incudes magic, sure, but in the current days, Atlantis is not the reference about magic in the DC universe, like the rock of Eternity or the Fate Tower is for example.
It may be due to the fact taht, like you pointed out, Aquaman is not a big priority for DC.

Excellent news. I could not stand Cullen Bunn's story.
